About Twelve 25

Breakfast starts early at Twelve 25, a bar on Union Quay in North Shields that runs food from morning through to evening meals. The kitchen turns out an English Breakfast and Eggs Benedict alongside eggs dishes such as Eggs Royal and Steak Benedict, plus pancakes in versions from Bacon, Pancakes & Maple Syrup to Kinder Bueno & Nutella. Later in the day the roughly twenty dishes take in the twelve25 Flatbread and a Salt and Chilli Chicken Flatbread, Bao Buns and sides of honey and halloumi fries or cheesy garlic bread. Bottomless brunch is served with wine and prosecco, and cocktails run alongside. Food and drink arrive by table service, with seating that includes high tables. The dessert list stretches to a Biscoff cheesecake, and the doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Brunch is the draw reviewers return to most, with several booking the bottomless option for birthdays and a mini hen and reporting that the wine and prosecco held up better than they expected. Close behind is the food itself, singled out dish by dish: Steak Benedict called generous and beautifully cooked, king prawns described as enormous, honey and halloumi fries deemed moreish, Kinder Bueno and Nutella pancakes with Eggs Royal at an early morning sitting, plus biscoff cheesecake and cheesy garlic bread that won over one diner who would not normally order it. Staff warmth comes up repeatedly, including a parent whose toddler was struggling and who was offered a phone charge and her unfinished cocktail in a takeaway cup. The dissent is blunt: one reviewer rated the food among the worst they had eaten, called it overpriced and cheap, and laughed at the chicken tikka flatbreads. Others counter that lunch, drinks and the music were good value, and say they will be back.

“Well people must be easy to please these days because 4.5 stars is crazy to me ! Some of the worst food I’ve had by far, over prices cheap food, I’ve had better at weather spoons…. But on the bright side we had a good laugh at how bad the chicken tikka flat breads were many thanks.”

“We went for bottomless brunch for a mini hen with my work colleagues and we all had a great time. The food was lovely and the service was great. The wine/ prosecco was good too which sometimes it's not on a brunch.”

“First time visiting twelve25. We came for my birthday breakfast and it was delicious. Apart from the staff (who were all lovely) we were the only people there as it was only 8.30am. food arrived quickly. We ordered Bacon, Pancakes & Maple Syrup, kinder Bueno & Nutella Pancakes and Eggs Royal. We also had two teas and an apple juice. In total it cost just over £37 for the 3 of us. Will definitely visit again.”
