The Two Mile Oak Inn
Quick info
About The Two Mile Oak Inn
On Totnes Rd in Newton Abbot, The Two Mile Oak Inn is a pub with its restaurant in the oldest part of the building. Old stone walls and wooden beams run through that section, and ale is served from the barrel for drinkers who want a pint with their meal. The menu includes a veggie lasagne and a fish pie, and the fish pie comes in a small or a larger portion, so diners can choose how much to order. A Sunday roast is served for Sunday lunch. The bar is dog friendly, which suits walkers who bring their dogs along. Booking ahead is advised because the pub gets busy.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the food, with the steak and the Sunday roast named repeatedly, including a steak pie, a steak salad with blue cheese dressing and juicy roast chicken. Close behind is the fish pie and veggie lasagne, and several reviewers single out the option of two portion sizes for the same dish, which one says suits a small appetite. Portions are described as generous and good sized, and a varied dessert menu gets a mention. Staff are called friendly and welcoming throughout, and one group of six who arrived just before the kitchen closed said they were still made to feel welcome. Reviewers also praise the beer garden views, ale from the barrel, live music and a bar that is dog friendly. The one caveat comes from a reviewer who found the old stone and beamed restaurant a little warm, though not stifling. One suggests booking ahead so as not to be disappointed, and another notes the pub is busy. A takeaway lasagne was prepared just as one reviewer was leaving, so it was still warm when they got home.

“Great little pub/restaurant with friendly staff. Nice seating outside and olde pub vibes inside”

“We arrived just before the kitchen was about to close. A group of six which, as I work in hospitality, was an inconvenience. However they could not make us feel more welcome. Food wonderful and we all ordered something different! I had the steak salad with blue cheese dressing and it was amazing. Thank you for looking after us.”

“Having lived near The Two Mile Oak Inn for most of my adult life. I have never actually been there, I’m not entirely sure why - it’s amazing! And it’s only a ten minute drive away from Newton abbot town and is situated on the Totnes road on the way out of Newton Abbot towards Ipplepen. There is ample car parking and on arrival the staff were very welcoming. The food was really good. I had a fish pie (they do 2 sizes) I had the small one and it was a good feed I was full after. The other photo I’ve uploaded is a veggie lasagne which looked really good too and I’m happy to report that it was also delicious. I also ordered one as a takeaway and took one back home for my partner! The chef prepared it ready for just as I was leaving so it was still warm when I got home. Highly recommend and looking forward to going back.”
