About The Godfrey Morgan
The Godfrey Morgan is a Wetherspoon pub in Newport, housed in a former cinema on Chepstow Rd. The interior is large, and the pub is open daily. Breakfast runs until noon, with Miners Benedict on the menu. Tea and Lavazza coffee come with free refills all day. Later meals include gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas, with vegetarian choices and deli deal options alongside. The bar pours real ales, craft beers and gins, and customers can order to the table through the Wetherspoon app. Parking is on site, and a second car park sits about three minutes' walk away.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise food that arrives hot and good value, with chicken strips and scampi described as piping hot and quick, and a Benedict at breakfast enjoyed by a family of hungry boys. The free refills of hot drinks are welcome at breakfast too. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly and efficient, and several call the pub spacious, relaxed and calm, on both a weekday afternoon and a Saturday night. A few mention that it is clean and tidy and that drinks were priced well. Criticism is mild but specific. One reviewer found a little too much cheese on the pizza, and another wants breakfast options without eggs. The sharpest complaint comes from a customer who says a bar worker needed their order repeated several times and left a paid drink unpoured until asked. Another diner had part of an order forgotten, and the staff quickly put it right and were extremely sorry.

“We stopped off here for a couple of hours in the afternoon during a weekday. Previously a Cinema and Bingo hall apparently. All of the staff were really pleasant and service was good. Drinks were priced well and hit the spot. The food was reasonable as Wetherspoons goes. Everything was clean and tidy. No complaints and would return again without any hesitation.”

“Called here for the first time. What a lovely place. Plenty of room and a car park too. Like many witherspoon the building was previously a cinema and as usual the food and drinks were spot on witherspoon. Cheap and cheerful. Had a pint each and chicken strips and scampi. Arrived quick quick and pipping hot, very good service.”
