About Parc-Y-Prior Inn

Parc-Y-Prior Inn is a pub on Almond Dr in Newport that cooks its pub classics over open flames, with steaks served on skillets. The menu includes a mixed grill and rump steak with beef dripping gravy, and burgers come with a buy one get one free deal on Thursdays. At the rear of the building, a kids' play area sits beside benches and tables, which suits families visiting with children. Tables can be booked in advance, including through the website or app, and the pub opens daily. The room is small with tables set close together, and the bar can have a queue when it gets busy. Customer Review Summary

Steak draws the most praise, with one diner calling a rare rump steak with beef dripping gravy perfectly cooked and another pairing a steak with a Hunters Chicken. Close behind are the loaded garlic bread, a chicken rice bowl, a chick n mix, and burgers with ribs and a massive dessert. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, polite and chatty, and several reviewers call the food good value. One reviewer suggests booking a table because the pub can get busy. Complaints centre on pacing and crowding. One diner says mains arrived right after starters, so they could not finish their food, and another found the chicken dry. A family reports a long wait for mixed grills with tiny gammon and steak portions, a steak not cooked medium, and a table by the kitchen door where people kept barging past. They add that a server dropped chips and garlic bread on the floor beside them.

“Absolutely lovely pub. Popped in en route from shopping for items for our latest range and heard there was a little charity shop just off the main road. Found the pub by accident and popped in for a break. Food was delicious (loaded garlic bread and a chicken rice bowl) and a coke and staff were lovely. Took so much interest in what I was doing, offered help to promote me to the local community to help raise funds and we're great, friendly servers. Lana is a proper caring momma bear and Stu was very gentlemanly and lovely. Thanks for such a nice visit. Parking available and a handy londos opposite. Well kept. Thanks guys, will definitely return.”

“Slow to start, no one near bar area to be given prebooked table or order drinks. Asked to change to a more suitable table with no issue from staff, staff polite. Meal arrived in good time although chicken was dry. Quiet for time of day (5pm)”

“Lovely friendly staff welcomed us to this great Pub. Very professional and quick to serve us. Set up a tab and sat in a very comfortable area. After 5 minutes ordered a meal and waited only 10-15 minutes for a great steak and a Hunters Chicken meal. No problems everything perfect. We'll definitely be back. Well done all.”

Outside area is very quaint and cute and it's in a great location with parking. Thank you for such a nice visit will definitely be back!”

“The food here is excellent but the service is even better being eating here for a number of years . For the past few months we have being served food by a young lady by the name of Eve . Eve is always smiling and happy and even though the food has not taken that long apologies for how long it take . A true diamond and a massive asset to the business. I think people who go over and above should be rewarded. Well done Eve and slow down you wiz around and truly amazing to see such a young person working so hard . Phil parry”
