Customer Review Summary

Friendly staff and quick service come up most in the positive reviews, alongside steaks cooked as requested and a Sunday roast beef with a Yorkshire pudding that one visitor called the best in years. Diners also mention a welcoming atmosphere, chatty regulars, good checks with allergies, and a refit they found clean and spacious with plenty of seating. The critical reviews give more detail on what goes wrong. Orders are the main problem: coleslaw replaced by onion rings on a Chick 'N' Mix, fish and chips missing because there was no fish, a gammon arriving long after a burger, and mixed grills served without onion rings that were out of stock. One long-time regular describes smaller portions, a tiny, chewy chicken and gammon, and a hot dining room where floor fans do little since the renovation. Another reviewer disliked having to download an app to order, with a tip prompt before ordering. One diner whose food took a while was given a round of drinks in compensation.

“My experience of this place was very disappointing. We went in my two sisters and I. It was coming up to my 80th birthday so they took me there to celebrate, what a let down. We ordered one burger One gammon one fish and chips. The burger came and about 5 minutes later the gammon came out which was bad because all three should have come out together. Time was going on and my two sisters finished their food, so one of them went up and said we are missing fish and chips the girl replied we haven't got any fish. They said the fish wasn't on the order so I said I will have gammon, I waited another 20 minutes until I got it. Absolutely disgusting we will never go there again. So beware people check your order. It really spoiled my birthday”

“Been coming here for years and it’s always been lovely never ever had a bad thing about this place until after the new renovation, ever since the renovation the place seems to have gone down hill we’ve been here a good couple of times since and every-time there’s always been an issue food has been poor our orders have been messed up every-time, we’ve been given food we haven’t ordered, food has been missing of our plates, lots of food and drink being out of stock also the food portions seem to be smaller as well and can’t believe how hot it is inside it’s extremely uncomfortable can’t believe there was no air conditioning or fans put in during the renovation, there’s a few floor fans but they do absolutely nothing, we came earlier 4 of us I had a mixed grill hardly any chips on the plate, chicken was tiny and really chewy and the gammon was tiny as well, first time in years I’ve had a meal that poor, my mother had a chick’n’mix ordered colesaw and was given onion rings instead when asking the young lad with glasses who brought our food he said I’ll check now then came back over and said I checked your order and you never ordered it, i blatantly told the lady behind the bar what I wanted I then went back up to ask then the lady said we can’t go back through and check orders but yet that young lad told me it was never on our order, doesn’t make any sense at all, we’ve been coming for years there was no apologie or any effort to correct the mistake it’s not good enough, the other week we had mixed grills and they never came with onion rings when asking about this was told they were out of stock but we wasn’t told this in the first place we had to ask and find out once the food was brought out and realistically if any item is out of stock it should be replaced with something else like an extra sausage for example or money should be taken off this needs to be mentioned before the order is put through and whatever item is out of stock should be replaced you shouldn’t be bringing out food with items missing from the order due to them being out of stock it’s unacceptable also the young lad with the glasses who brought our food noticed a good few times we’ve been now the tone of voice he gives when asking who’s food is what just seems rude always seem in a mood never a smile or anything in sight first time we’ve ever felt a member of staff to be pretty rude, the place is unbearable to eat in with how hot it’s been dripping in sweat sticking to the chairs it’s so uncomfortable and it’s such a shame because this place has always been lovely but ever since this renovation it’s gone down hill also offering out 30% discounts mid way through July this isn’t a bad thing but the place is usually rammed full around these times but everytime we’ve been it’s been quiet even on Fridays and Saturday evening it’s always been rammed but since all the work was done it’s been a lot quieter I just hope you sort it out as me and my friends/family always enjoy coming here have never had a bad thing to say about the place until the renovation was done, I wasn’t going to leave a review due to how good its been over the years but as of recent it’s just been unacceptable and poor we’ve had an issue everytime we’ve been and we’ve probably been about 12 or so times since the renovation, I just hope you sort it out and get back to how it used to be…”

“My first time ever visiting here this past Wednesday 10th June 2026. Will definitely be coming back, lovely atmosphere, staff, food even the regulars , so chatty and welcoming, the food took a little long but we were compensated with a round of drinks which was really nice. Didn't realize it was a new refurbishment too. They did a great job with it!”
