About Olivers Bistro Cafe

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast in Grainger Market is the draw, with the full English at the center and reviewers returning to it across repeat visits, some eating here twice or daily during a stay. Close behind are the sausage bap and sausage sandwiches, eggs Benedict and eggs done to taste, and the black pudding, which one reviewer did not expect to like. Coffee is described as strong and freshly brewed, portions as big, and prices as good. Many mention friendly staff and a family feel, along with the bustling market setting, and one notes a wait for a table because every seat was full. The picture is not uniformly warm. One reviewer describes a long wait to order and being told "we haven't got that" for several menu items, ending with a dish that wasn't brilliant. Another found the cakes okay and the service not the friendliest at a quiet midweek lunch. Even so, several reviewers close on a plate they loved, such as a sausage bap called dreamy.

“Service isn't exactly great. Had to wait a while to order, which was a joke. Everytime we asked for something on the menu it was met with "We haven't got that" We eventually ordered something that they actually had, but it wasn't brilliant. Won't be returning !”

“I had my very first English breakfast here, together with my daughter, and it was absolutely delicious. We had to wait a little because all the tables were full, but it was worth it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was great. The place has a nice, cozy atmosphere, and overall we really enjoyed our visit. A wonderful spot to try an English breakfast for the first time.”

“Bought some cakes and they were okay. Not the friendliest service which is a surprise for the area? Fairly quiet but it was mid week and lunch time. Breakfast looked nice”

“Had the most lush sausage bap this morning at Oliver's after a night in Newcastle to see a band at City Hall. It was dreamy! My partner loved his full English too. Lovely staff and Grainger Market vibes too.”
