Quick info
About Flares - Newcastle
Flares - Newcastle is a disco bar and club venue at 33 Mosley St in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and it has free entry. A DJ plays the music and speaks over it through the microphone during the night. Cowboy hats are part of the evening, and they are given out or worn on nights out. Colour patterns run across the counter, so the bar area carries the same bright look as the rest of the night. The venue is set up around dancing to the DJ's disco sets.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most common thread, with several reviewers describing the bar service as lovely, funny and welcoming, and one saying they felt welcome the moment they walked in. Free entry and a good beer deal come up close behind. One reviewer calls the drinks cheap, while another says prices are what you would expect in town, and one enjoyed a bottle of WKD Orange & Passion Fruit. The music divides opinion. Fans call the selection fabulous and the design hip, but critics say the DJ did not know Jamiroquai, kept interrupting the dancing by shouting into the mic, and played songs at 1.5x speed. One reviewer also found bar service noticeably slow and thought the layout could use its space more efficiently. Even so, one works night out ended with a guest leaving in a cowboy hat they barely took off all night.

“Not sure how they how they can claim to be a disco club when the DJ didn't even know Jamiroquai... super sad! I was excited to a bit of funky music but it was like being at Wigan Pier :( Everyone seemed to be having a good time though and it was free entry.”
- Alan Carter
“Not my scene. Staff were fine and friendly - drink prices were as you'd expect in town. May suit some.”
