Quick info
About The Town Wall
The Town Wall is a pub in Newcastle Upon Tyne, set in a Georgian building on Pink Ln. The menu runs from ales to all-day brunch and burgers, served in the main bar or downstairs in the basement. That basement holds a cinema room, and the building has several other rooms, including a Library and a Drawing Room that can be hired, which gives groups a space of their own. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, from craft beers to four cask beers on handpump including a stout, served in an open, spacious bar with a few small side rooms. Food comes close behind. The philly cheese steak with its chips, a frittata and a buffet at private events all draw praise, and one diner with a dairy allergy says allergens were communicated very well. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, even when busy, and weekends can get packed. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the portion of chips disappointing and attached a photo. A Sunday dinner regular of almost 30 years reports a much reduced Sunday menu and a drop in quality, and suspects new management. Another notes food can take a short while at peak times because it is cooked to order. One group of work colleagues recalls staff rearranging tables and chairs so everyone could sit together.

“Wonderful hire for a retirement do. The food was excellent the fritatta went down great guns. Chloe looked after us at the bar and was excellent friendly.”

“Went in today for a meal with my family, the venue is fairly accessible and they had a ramp so that my dad could get into the building. We were sat pretty quickly and within 5 minutes our waitress (I didn’t quite catch her name but she was absolutely phenomenal) had come over to check on us and was prepared to take a drinks order. The service was amazing, they communicated allergens very well (I can’t have dairy), and the food was unreal. Would highly recommend for people to pop in and give it a good check out.”

“The Library room was originally booked for a leaving surprise party. However we ended up being offered to use the Drawing Room, which was perfect with lots of room for all attending including prams for our smallest guests. The buffet was well presented and lots of people commented on the nice food. All staff were very friendly and so helpful. We had a fantastic afternoon. Thank you so much.”

“Been going there on and off each Sunday for almost 30 years for Sunday dinner. I suspect they have new management. The Sunday menu has been much reduced and the quality overall has taken a hit. It's nice (kinda) that they now want to 'show you to a table' too. But I think in an almost empty pub I've been going to for this long, I can probably manage.”

“Service was amazing! All staff do attentive and quick even though it was so so busy! The food was delicious but the portion size of the chips was more than disappointing, picture attached was the actual portion size😕 That was the only thing that let it down. I'd definitely still pop in for a drink though.”
