  “I was really looking forward to my meal, but unfortunately, I had a bad experience. Halfway through my food, I noticed a dragonfly leg sticking out of my sausage. It completely put me off, and I couldn't finish the rest of my dinner. To their credit, the staff were lovely, very understanding, and offered a free dessert to make up for it. While I appreciated their excellent customer service, I was just too put off to accept it. Hoping this was just a one-off hygiene oversight, but it ruined the evening for me.”

  “We often visit and take our friends with us as we know we will get a lovely meal but tonight it was horrible. We ordered our favourite fish and chips as it’s always fresh and the chips are lovely but tonight they looked uncooked and the fish was so dry not what we expected . The told the Lady serving us and she said they had changed the ordering of potatoes so that’s it we will give it a miss as not very nice and look law . Tasteless too .”

  “We've come for weekend to belsay horse international horse 🐎 trials unbelievable world's best riders... x country day today show jumping ... Lots walking....also birthday 🎂🎉 weekend and we found you you responded brilliantly after we called and reassured us we were coming somewhere special you didn't disappoint amazing place and staff food 101/10....had pie 🥧 and rump steak 🥩 delicious ... onion rings... delicious absolutely stuffed 🏆😁”

  “We haven't been here for years, we used to call in regularly got food, so decided to call in for food when in the area. It wasn't too busy, we selected a table. I must say I wasn't too impressed with the food - the chips were chewy, my wife's pork was rather fatty. It was just a bit underwhelming. I was ill that evening and the next day, I can't say it was definitely from the food, but personally - I wouldn't go back.”

  “Fantastic traditional local village pub and eatery, we went for Sunday lunch and definitely weren't disappointed the food was served quickly and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very attentive, we managed to get a table outside in the courtyard to enjoy our meals in the sunshine, well worth a visit.”

  “Went here on a trip up to Berwick-upon-Tweed, perfect location as is located just off the A1, the village is a nice little place with a quaint charm. The car-parking is ample and the outside of the building looks like a traditional pub. We sat at the entrance, the atmosphere is okay, however there are fruit machines and a dart board, so if your looking for a family meal not the type of place for that at the entrance, but I will say we moved and there was a more dining style area. When we arrived the table was a little dirty, but the staff noticed straight away and immediately cleared the table, although we did have to ask for the table to be wiped of spilt gravy and salt. Overall, the staff were very friendly, and accommodating. The beer choices were pretty limited, but had some locals on and it was served chilled in a clean glass. Ordered food off the small plates menu, the “Black Pudding Croquettes with Peppercorn Sauce” sounded nice. It was £10, so was expecting a decent size portion, unfortunately it was only two small spherical croquettes, and I believe packet sauce. Was expecting a little more due to the cost, the croquettes were nice and crisp, if not a little mushy on the inside. Overall a pretty decent place, if not a little costly for the portion size. I am willing to pay for either portion size or quality, and unfortunately neither of these was met. If I went again would definitely try something from the main menu, as the food did look good, probably just ordered the wrong food.”

  “We stopped here for dinner on our way home. It was quite busy when we arrived, but we managed to get a table. If you’re seated in the bar area, you place your order directly at the bar—just let them know your table number. In the dining area, it’s regular table service. I had the king prawn linguine, which was absolutely delicious with generous portions of prawns. My husband had the gammon steak, and it was a massive portion as well. We both really enjoyed our meals and were so full we skipped dessert! We visited on a Tuesday, and they had a quiz night starting at 8 PM. The place got even busier as it got closer to that time. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area!”

  “Great food, bit pricier but worth the extra cost. Staff attentive and all seems to be well organised. Dogs allowed. Plenty of seating. We went on Sunday without reservation and no problem to find the seat. Would recommend.”
