About The Black Horse, Foxton
The Black Horse, Foxton is a pub in the Market Harborough area, now under new management. Its tiered gardens have views, and a large covered patio sits alongside them, close to Foxton Locks. A footpath leads to the locks, and narrowboat visitors come in to eat. The kitchen serves a Sunday lunch menu built around a roast with Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy. A pie of the day is on offer, and apple crumble with custard is on the dessert side. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring their own company. Free parking is available for those arriving by car.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what reviewers return to most, with the roast beef singled out as very tender and served with a red wine gravy and a Yorkshire pudding described as beautifully cooked. Close behind, one diner praises a turkey roast dinner with crispy Yorkshire pudding and creamy mash, another had the smoked bacon, and a pie of the day and the sea bass also get mentions. Apple crumble with custard and brownie with custard are named as the finishers. Several describe the staff as friendly and lovely, and others call the prices reasonable and the value good. The garden views and the walk to the locks come up as part of the visit. The main complaint is the wait: two reviewers say food took 45 minutes to arrive, and one was told of kitchen grill problems. One reviewer would have preferred fresh vegetables to the frozen peas that were the only option. One reviewer suggests booking ahead, and a narrowboat regular closes on the pub being their go to place.

“Fabulous Sunday lunch! The meal took 45 minutes to arrive but it was worth the wait. Roast beef was very tender, the accompanying veg and Yorkshire pudding were all beautifully cooked and delicious. The red wine gravy was superb! I would highly recommend the best Sunday lunch I’ve had for a long time. Well done to the chef and the team 👏”

“We regularly eat at The Black Horse when on our narrowboat. Cannot praise the staff, service, food and atmosphere highly enough. Pet friendly areas. Outside there is a large covered patio and tiered gardens. This lovely pub is our go to place. I personally have a favourite on the menu ... Sea bass. 😊 Kevin, Helen Gregory and Eddie the Springer. 👍”

“@the_blackhorsefoxton delicious food, excellent quality. The sauce served with roasted potatoes was top notch and one of the best I had so far. The ambience is cosy. Highly recommended. Thanks to team & chef. Service: it took 45 mins for our order to come. Staff mentioned about kitchen grill issues they were experiencing. As food was good can let go.”
