Quick info
About The Cherry Tree
The Cherry Tree is a thatched pub in the Little Bowden area of Market Harborough, with two separate gardens: a family garden with a children's play area, tables and umbrellas, and an adults-only garden at the rear. Inside, one side has old beams and low ceilings, while the other is a more spacious area. The bar serves real ale, including Tiger, and the kitchen serves roast lunch. A separate dining room is available for groups, which gives larger parties a space of their own away from the main bar.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the dish reviewers raise most, and opinion splits on it: several call the Sunday lunch lovely and fabulous, while one found the roast bland and tasteless, with meat that seemed like cheap packet stuff rather than proper carvery. Close behind is the food more broadly, with a huge burger described as a bargain and tasty, and an Inside out Kiev and a Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya called superb. Reviewers repeatedly praise friendly, helpful staff, a busy and vibrant atmosphere, and a well kept pint of Tiger, with the beams and low ceilings on one side and two large gardens on the other. The main criticism comes from a parent who found the children's play area run down, with worn tables, umbrellas and equipment, and said the small bite they ordered was nasty and left unfinished. One dog owner asked for more water bowls and treats for dogs. Others mention a new thatch roof, and one group of eight was seated in its own dining room for lunch.

“It's ok. More dog water bowls and maybe treat for for dogs for sale or free would be nice”

“Visited with my 4 year old for a small bite and the play area. Unfortunately both were a real let down. We couldn't finish the food, cheap, nasty rubbish & not so cheap either. The kids play area was completely run down including the tables, umbreallas and play equipment. I noted from some of the other picture reviews are 8 years old, so no doubt it looked great then. As an aside, not the pubs fault but I did feel uncomfortable at times as non-locals so I have had to mark down there. There were positives, the beautiful exterior & interior really are something to see. The inside from what I saw was very clean. Overall a frustrating visit as the pub has so much potential!”

“Went for lunch today with a group of 8 friends, seated in our own nice dining room so we could have a good chat. Service was great and food delicious, very impressed with the menu choices, so nice to have something a bit different to choose from; Inside out Kiev, and Chicken & Chorizo Jambalaya, both superb. PS, great job on the new thatch roof”

“Beautiful & traditional thatched village pub situated in the Little Bowden area of Market Harborough. The premises has carparking, two large gardens, one for families with children's play area, the other, located to the rear is for adults only. Well behaved dogs are welcome inside the pub (bar area) & Gardens.”
