  “We went on taco Tuesday and they had a deal where you pay half! It was great. The tacos are super tasty, they're not greedy with the meat at all. Very flavourful and one of the best tacos I've had! The staff/host was also great, very service friendly and loved the energy. All in all, totally recommend it.”

  “We went out on a Tuesday at 7pm so they had 2-4-1 tacos, we had pre-booked but it was very busy and quite loud. The food was good, I especially enjoyed the chicharron and my boyfriend really liked the birria tacos. The birria tacos didn’t seem to be on the 2 for 1 deal though despite being on the menu. Overall, we enjoyed the food and would come back again to try other items on the menu.”

  “I don’t usually leave reviews but this was the best mexican food i’ve had in the UK. Knew I was going to leave happy as soon as I had a sip of the pineapple margarita. Would genuinely plan a trip back to Manchester just for this food so please open a branch in Birmingham, we’re in dire need of a place like this!!”

  “Visited Madre in Manchester for a late Sunday lunch with friends before an event. Despite booking for 2:30pm, the restaurant was much busier than expected, likely due to the Manchester run taking place that day. The menu was a real highlight, especially for mixed dietary groups. One of our party is vegan, and it was great to see how many dishes could be adapted, making it easy for everyone to find something appealing. We shared a variety of dishes including oysters, tuna tostada, bone marrow, corn, potatoes, nachos with fresh guacamole and refried beans, and a vegan bowl. The food was consistently fresh, flavourful and well-presented. The tuna tostada and oysters were particular standouts, and the cocktails were excellent too. Unfortunately, the service and atmosphere didn't quite match the quality of the food. We felt rushed on arrival, being asked multiple times about drinks and food almost immediately after sitting down, before we'd had a chance to settle in or properly look at the menu. There were also a couple of occasions where staff seemed to make assumptions about our order rather than checking with the whole table. The biggest downside was the noise level. The music became increasingly loud throughout our visit, creating more of a bar or club atmosphere than a relaxed lunch setting. We even asked if the volume could be lowered, which staff initially agreed to, but it soon seemed to return to its previous level. For anyone who enjoys conversation over lunch, or who has sensory sensitivities, this may detract from the experience. Overall, the food and drinks were genuinely excellent and I'd happily return for those alone. However, the rushed service and very loud music prevented what could have been a truly outstanding dining experience.”

  “Best food I’ve had in Manchester since moving here 7 years ago. Took my sister and brother in law here for the first time in November and again took my parents here last night. Everyone has agreed that the food, the service and the drinks are all 5 stars. We were even given free extras because the kitchen had over-made some dishes. It’s a little on the expensive side but for the quality it’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!”

  “We LOVED it here! We came here for a birthday meal and it was just incredible - I haven’t had good Mexican food like this for a while (hard to find in the north east!) I’m pescatarian and there were fantastic options - I got the potato tacos, fish tacos and shared the potatoes & corn. I would highly recommend the corn - so so good! My partner’s birria tacos were also out of this world. We also pre-ordered the churros, which was so worth it. The interior of this restaurant is beautiful and the staff were great!”

  “Madre is a great spot for Mexican food lovers, offering tasty dishes in a nice atmosphere. My favorites are the elote and Birria tacos! The atmosphere is lovely, and they have many Mexican drink options that are hard to find elsewhere. However, the service is a bit disappointing, as many tables often remain unclean.”

  “Great food and nice decor. While there aren’t *too* many plant-based options on the menu, what is there is high quality and very tasty. We went with the majority of their vegan (or “can be made vegan”) dishes and every one was delicious and skilfully prepared and presented. A top sport for Mexican food that’s a bit more authentic than your standard “tex-mex” fare.”

  “Real review! No sugar coating! I am an oyster lover but this oysters 🦪 tastes like ?not fresh. I was expecting that mexican chicharones but surprisingly, it was a skewed pork only. Not the deep fried one The tijuana style carne asado tacos has this after taste, But… I love the oysters with jalapenos! Perfect combination The chicharones was so crispy! And i love the cola sauce! I love the pickled onions and pepinos, excellent for the tacos. And our drinks! Mechelada! Very refreshing! Thanks to the lovely staff who are very accommodating and very hospitable to their guests!”

  “Love love! Polite and quick service. All tacos were super tasty, we ordered 4 tacos between two of us and were perfectly full. The birria tacos was one the best I’ve ever had. We also loved the steak tacos worth the extra cost.”
