About Hello Oriental Trafford Centre
Hello Oriental Trafford Centre is an Asian restaurant in Manchester, at Unit 5A The Trafford Centre. The roast duck and chicken rice platter comes with the meat served on the bone, which suits a diner who wants a full plate built around one dish. Drinks run to bubble drinks and an Oolong tea-pot, so a table can pair a pot of tea with the meal. The dishes are suited to sharing, and the large seating area has room for a group. Orders are placed by scanning a QR code, and a physical menu is also on hand. The kitchen sends each dish out as soon as it is ready, so sides can reach the table before the mains.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the portions, with the salt and pepper chicken, char siu bao buns and pork belly named as standouts, and one diner took leftovers home after ordering several plates expecting small sharing dishes. The Malaysian chicken curry, katsu curry and pho also get praise, along with the strawberry fruit tea, bubble drinks and a mango martini. Several describe friendly, helpful staff, including a free ice cream for a child during an order delay. The recurring complaint is uneven pacing and organisation. Dishes arrive as they are ready, so one table received meals ten minutes apart, and another found a vegetable side going cold before the mains. One reviewer found the beef ho fun overcooked, while another called it decent but lacking spice. Others describe a long queue, staff who seemed overwhelmed, a roast duck platter served on the bone without the menu saying so, and beer running out. One reviewer felt treated as an inconvenience. Several find the pricing reasonable for the portions, though another thought it high for the flavour. A slow self-service water machine closes out the list of small frustrations.

“After visiting the city centre location previously, we decided to try Hello Oriental at the Trafford Centre while out shopping. We had to queue for a while, but the food itself was worth the wait. The gentleman who served us was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about providing good service. Unfortunately, the overall experience was a bit mixed. The staff generally seemed quite overwhelmed and disorganised at times. One thing that wasn’t clear from the menu was that dishes are prepared and sent out as soon as they’re ready. As a result, our vegetable side arrived well before the mains and was going cold while we waited. We were told this is how the kitchen operates, which is fair enough, but it would have been helpful to know before ordering as we might have chosen differently. I also ordered a roast duck and chicken rice platter. The meat was served on the bone, which isn’t a problem in itself, but it wasn’t mentioned on the menu. Had I known, I probably would have chosen another dish. There were a couple of other minor issues too. They had run out of beer during our visit, and the self-service water machine was extremely slow, taking around two minutes to fill a small 300ml glass. Overall, the food was good and some of the service was excellent, but a lack of communication about how dishes are served and a few operational issues meant the experience wasn’t quite as enjoyable as it could have been.”

“A shambles and waste of what was expected stop be a decent meal. Two adults and two toddlers - we all received our meals 10 mins apart, on top of this the beef ho fun fact as so over cooked (dads meal and the last to arrive hence we left it without change) also the Choi sum was only stalks and when I mentioned this the girl said Choi sum is stalk and pak Choi is leaf which is utter nonsense. I have ate in town when it first opened and it was a great experience but this was a complete disaster and I would never recommend anyone to return. On a good it the young lad working was a great ambassador any any business”

“We visited the restaurant with our children and really enjoyed it. There was a wide selection of options for both adults and kids; the children especially liked the katsu curry and pho. The staff were fantastic and offered excellent service. We will definitely visit again.”

“Food was ok, decor and atmosphere was alright and the service was obnoxious… on more than one occasion we were made to feel like an inconvenience.”

“Great customer service. This food was immense! Rookie mistake as we’ve never been before; we ordered multiple plates thinking it was little dishes recommended for sharing as it was priced so reasonably. The portions were absolutely ENORMOUS! I was done for after a few bites and ended up carting the rest home. Notable dishes: Salt and pepper Chicken Char siu bao buns Pork belly”
