Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the signature curry pork chop rice, praising a crispy outside, tender inside and a rich, aromatic curry with a gentle spice kick. Diners also name the scallion oil chicken chop with fried egg rice, the sweetcorn pork chop rice, Hong Kong-style lemon tea, and egg waffles, with one pointing to the peanut butter version. Several say the flavour is authentic Hong Kong, and one diner's father recognised the curry from two decades ago. Prices and staff are repeatedly called reasonable and nice. The main trade-off is space and demand. The room is very small, several suggest booking a table, and one party arriving at 7pm got the last two plates of pork chop rice. One returning reviewer found the pork chop thinner with thicker batter on a later visit. Staff gave one family an extra bowl of curry sauce for the kids and another table a free waffle after the meal.

“Very small place can sit around 12 at a squeeze. I think most get takeaway. They are famous for their fried pork chop with curry sauce. Its pretty good but probably not worth travelling for. If you get a large you get an extra slice of meat. I preferred their signature curry over the japanese style curry Update.. returned again recently, still really busy. Make sure you book a table, I feel the pork chop i had this time was not as good it was thinner and batter slightly thicker too. Hoping its just a blip and not the norm”

“After a day at comic con, we wanted a nice restaurant nearby to get a quick bite, This was such an amazing surprise place, completely picked at random and we almost didn't go inside because we thought it was small and maybe it's only takeaway. Have I ever been so glad to be so wrong. This hole in the wall totally authentic curry house is the best curry I've ever had. The atmosphere there staff and the food portions, there is a reason the reviews are that high and it's honestly that good! Everything was good even the fair prices. I'll definitely be back for more. Thank you for an amazing meal!”

“Popchop really captures that authentic Hong Kong cha chaan teng feel. The place is always busy and full of energy—you can tell it’s popular the moment you walk in. It’s not one of those fast-turnover spots though, so don’t expect a super quick in-and-out experience. The food stays true to Hong Kong style—simple, familiar, and done properly without trying to overcomplicate things. It feels genuine, which is hard to find. One thing to note: since it gets quite busy, you might need to wait a bit for your order to be ready. But honestly, that’s part of the experience—very much like Hong Kong, where good food is worth a little patience.”

“My family and I came over for dinner last night. The signature curry was mouthwatering and nostalgic. My dad kept yapping about how he used to work near the HK 新景園 about 20 years ago, and he was exhilarated regarding how he could still taste the same curry here. Reasonable price and nice staff. The seating area is quite small here, so you might want to book your place beforehand to secure your place. Strongly recommend the egg waffle, esp the peanut butter one ;) And thank you for giving us a free waffle after meal, it was truly unexpected.🫶”
