Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out a friendly welcome from the staff, with several describing attentive, helpful service and a manager who made a family birthday dinner feel welcome. The food comes close behind. One reviewer calls the Tandoori mixed grill flavoursome and cooked to perfection, another praises the mushroom puri and a unique menu, and others say the curries are good and the takeaway matches the standard of the restaurant. A few note the decor is tired and the place could do with some TLC, and one found it too quiet for much atmosphere. The negatives are specific. One reviewer found the chicken chaat awful, the curry without flavour and the chips old and cooked in old oil. Another says a manager would not let them move from a dark table in an empty dining room. A delivery order arrived cold, missing the mango and onion, with half-full pilau rice tubs. The returned mango pot was still short, and the restaurant offered half price off a future order.

“We had a great family meal at A Taste of East this evening to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. We all thought that the food was delicious. Though the decor is tired and without glamour, the manager made us feel welcome and ensure that they fulfilled our dining expectations. I recommend this restaurant if you love delicious Indian food.”

“One of the worst in customer service. I am deeply hurt by the attitude of the person when I entered the hotel. The manager asked us to sit on a table which was dark having no light. So we decided to sit on the adjacent table. The whole restaurant was vacant and had no reservations/bookings. He did not allow us to sit on the adjacent table stating ‘Brother, you are in a restaurant, if the manager is telling you something you should do that and that if you don’t want to sit there you can leave’ I am deeply hurt and would never recommend this restaurant to anybody. Sorry”

“The food was absolutely shocking. The chips were old, not fresh, and clearly cooked in old oil. The curry was basically just warmed-up water with absolutely no flavour. The chicken chaat was awful – everything tasted the same. I would not recommend this place at all. Very poor cooking – bad, bad chef. Binned the food got my money back”
