About Lucknow Junction
Lucknow Junction is an Indian restaurant in Bolton, at 27 Higher Market St, built around chef-recommended specials rather than a pick-your-sauce-and-meat menu. The woman who owns it explains the menu and guides diners toward dishes, which helps first-time visitors choose. Street food and starters include a chaat basket and paani puri, and the butter chicken curry comes with rice. Cooking is done from scratch with fresh ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian dishes are clearly marked on the menu, so those eating plant-based can order with confidence. A cocktail menu is also available.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the woman who runs the restaurant, who explains the menu, where the dishes originate, and recommends food based on what diners usually order. The food is described as fresh, tasty and cooked from scratch. The Taali platter, butter chicken curry with rice, chaat basket and paani puri are all named, and chef specials get singled out. Vegans and vegetarians repeatedly say they were well catered for, with clearly marked choices on the menu. Several also mention good value and a warm welcome for children. The criticisms are minor. One diner found the onion bhajis crisper than preferred and the dining room a little cold, another said the outside looks unappealing compared with the decor inside, and one noticed a misspelt cocktail name. One reviewer says weekends get busy and suggests booking. Another went in for street food and starters and ended up ordering a full meal.

“Apart from the spelling of Sex on the Beach (cocktail menu), it's really hard to fault the restaurant. Top quality and authentic food, friendly service, an inspiring story of a wife & husband duo chasing a passion leaving the comfort of an IT career, it was a wholesome experience overall. We'll visit again.”

“We do a regular curry night with the lads and this is hands down the best curry we've all ever had, the girl who runs it is ace. Really attentive, personal service and the food is exceptional, you wont be disappointed. It's quiet during the week but at weekend's it gets hammered so book! Not your typical Indian restaurant, where you pick you're sauce and meat etc. but they will bend over backwards for you. Can't tell you what dishes I've had in the past for a recommendation because always order off specials and I never remember the name. Just chat to the owner, tell her what you normally order and she will recommend something.”

“Just go there, honestly. The freshest tastiest curries you will ever try. If you are veggie or vegan you are in for a treat. Cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients and made with love from the owner Monica. I can’t remember ever trying Indian food that is this good. You won’t be disappointed. I’m just gutted I’ve not been sooner! Planning on going monthly now to work my way through the meat free options 😅❤️”
