Quick info
About Ancoats Coffee Co.
Ancoats Coffee Co. is a cafe at Unit 9 in Manchester, set in an old converted cotton mill with arches inside. The team roasts its own beans on site, so the coffee is made in the same building where it is served. Seating mixes sofas, armchairs and wooden seats with tables, and items are brought to your table. The setup suits working on a laptop or catching up with friends. The menu covers baked goods, breakfasts and snacks, including a BLT and a fruit bowl with homemade granola, and the drinks include masala chai alongside coffee. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the draw at this independent roastery, with reviewers calling it rich, smooth, and high quality, and several noting the beans are roasted on site in an old converted cotton mill. Close behind is the atmosphere, described as cozy and quiet, with sofas, armchairs, and wooden tables that suit working on a laptop or catching up with friends. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly, kind, and welcoming, and service is called efficient, with drinks brought to the table. Beyond coffee, diners name a masala chai with milk, a fruit bowl with homemade granola, and a BLT as highlights, and one hopes to try the baked goods. The one complaint comes from a reviewer who reports that a bookcase in the corner narrows the gap and blocks access to the disabled toilet, which they say was once usable. Another describes the toilets as clean. One reviewer suggests taking an iced coffee for a walk to the marina.

“Love the coffee and the atmosphere however accessibility could be improved simply by moving the bookcase that is blocking access to the disabled toilet. Listed as having a wheelchair accessible toilet which it did used to be but in reality it cannot be accessed anymore in a wheelchair as the gap is too narrow between the bookcase in the corner and the opposite wall which is a shame. Hoping this can be rectified!”

“Absolutely loved my visit to Ancoats Coffee Co in Manchester. The coffee was rich, smooth, and clearly made with real care, and the atmosphere was the perfect mix of relaxed and stylish. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the whole experience feel genuinely special rather than just another coffee stop. You can tell the staff are passionate about the service and quality, from the beans to the presentation and it really shows in every cup. It’s a great little spot to unwind, catch up with friends and just enjoy a quiet moment with exceptional coffee. I’ll definitely be back!”

“Ancoats Coffee Co has an atmospheric beauty that I couldn’t imagine you’d get anywhere else in Manchester. A huge plus is that it’s a coffee house that sells good coffee ☕️ you won’t believe how many places in Manchester that sells terrible drinks. They have clean toilet facilities and a seating area outside. The arch’s inside are beautiful and I overall thinks it’s lovely. Recommend grabbing an iced coffee and taking a walk to the marina.”

“Really lovely coffee spot in Manchester! Nice ambiance! Friendly staff, mix of sofas, armchairs and wooden seats with tables - perfect for chilling or working! Coffees are the same price (as of September 2025) as the big chains but much better quality! They have free WiFi as the phone signal is a bit weak! Highly recommend!”
