About The Silly Country
The Silly Country is a bar in Droylsden, Manchester, on 121 Market St next to a tram stop, with a bottle shop alongside it. The ales come from keg, cask, bottle and can, and the fridges hold canned and bottled beers to take away, with draught options at the bar. Cider is on the menu too. Old books and games are out to browse. Food is limited to bar snacks such as bags of Quavers. An open mic evening rounds out the programme for anyone who wants live entertainment.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the wide range of beers, from keg, cask, bottle and can, with the fridge selection of cans and bottles singled out, including a Tiny Rebel Jam Doughnut and a gluten free coconut beer. Draught options and a blood orange gin also get a mention. Friendly bar staff come up repeatedly, along with a good atmosphere, old books and games to browse, and a fun open mic evening with friendly regulars. Its spot beside the tram stop is noted, and it fills up quickly, especially on match days. Bar snacks are the only food. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who found some staff could not pull a good pint: a Northern Monkey Frank the Tank arrived with no head and tasted vile, and a cider ordered as a safer choice was judged borderline worse. Another reviewer, by contrast, called the beer well kept. One reviewer took bottles and cans away with a pound knocked off each.

“Amazing local right off the tramstop. Very good vibe, with old books and games available to browse, a great selection of drinks and friendly staff but it does fill up very quick, doesn't serve food except for bar snacks.”

“4.50 for a pint of stout and a grab bag of quavers. I'm not complaining 😀 Bar staff always friendly, atmosphere always decent.”

“Good selection of beers in the fridges, both canned and bottled. Some good options on draught too. Staff were friendly! Main issue for the low rating is some of them simply could not pull a good pint, which really affects the taste! My partner ordered a Northern Monkey Frank the Tank which came with no head and tasted vile (we go to NM taproom in Bolton a lot and it should not taste like this). She then ordered a cider to be safe, which was borderline worse. Ended up getting a Tiny Rebel Jam Doughnut from the fridge, so can’t go wrong. I was pleased to find they had the Mongozo Gluten Free Coconut beer, one of my favourites. We loved the vibe in here, super cool and definitely the kind of place we’d seek out. We’d come again for the canned beers!”
