About Mulligans
Mulligans is an Irish pub in Manchester, set across two levels at 12 Southgate, just off Bridge Street near San Carlo. Downstairs keeps an older pub feel with less seating. Upstairs is a large space with big TVs and seating areas, which suits watching sport with a group. Bands and other groups play live music, and the Guinness is poured as pints. Food comes from an Irish kitchen, so a meal can sit alongside the drinks. Door staff work the entrance, and the pub can be packed at peak times.

Customer Review Summary
Guinness is the draw most reviewers raise, with several calling it the best pint in Manchester and others finding it decent but not exceptional. Close behind is the live music, with praise for the band on a Sunday afternoon and after a gig, though one reviewer found the volume too loud on a quiet Monday evening with few people in. Staff and door staff are described as friendly, fun and quick, and the bar team as jolly. The downstairs is an older pub space that gets cramped when busy, while upstairs is huge, with big tvs and seating areas. The recurring complaint is value. A few say the Guinness is pricey for what it is, and one says drinks are overpriced, service awful and the atmosphere changed, with crowds blocking the path and the bar. One visitor was told the Celtic and Rangers game was not being shown, though the bouncers pointed them to where to watch it. Others describe the crowd joining in when the live music plays.

“Amazing little spot, great staff and pints, just wasn’t mad at all about the volume of the music of the beautiful and soulful man playing music at 18:20 of a Monday, would have adored some chill time to take in the bar without having to shout in my friends ear with a total of 8 people in the bar 🥲”

“Great band, great service. We visited Mulligans after a gig at castlefield bowl and the atmosphere was amazing. Staff were really on it with drinks and cleaning stuff up and it was lovely to see how much they genuinely looked like they were having a great time there!”

“Went on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm, place was packed. I'll be honest, I was expecting more from the Guinness when they charge over £8 a pint. It was a 7 out of 10. Nothing amazing. Nothing dreadful.”
