Customer Review Summary
Steaks and seafood anchor the praise, with diners naming a sirloin, a pink and tender rump steak salad, and a tasty seafood tagliatelle. Close behind are the roast dinner and a duck main served with sweet potato and tenderstem broccoli. One reviewer also likes traditional items rarely seen on pub menus, such as lamb's kidney, squid and belly of pork. Desserts also draw praise, including a tangy key lime pie with honeycomb and blackcurrant coulis, and one reviewer calls the set daytime menu exceptional rather than a small-portion version of the main menu. Service is described as friendly, relaxed, polite and efficient. The main dissent is a single family evening visit that found service slow and inconsistent, with a drinks order needing a chase, loud coarse language from drinkers sat outside, and a bill that felt pricey. Another reviewer, catering for gluten free and dairy free guests, describes a freshly made separate roast, gravy, cauliflower cheese and stuffing.

“Came here twice now and it's been consistently excellent I would highly recommend for great food and great service.”

“Great roast dinner and lovely staff. They went out of their way to cater for gluten free and a dairy free person. The gluten free included freshly made separate to the roast, gravy, cauliflower cheese (insane) and stuffing. They usually have yorkshires but they ran out. For dairy free, they did fresh vegetables so no butter and gravy. The staff were so lovely and all 8 people loved it. By far the nicest quality roast we have had in Leicester.”

“Excellent lunch - food was delicious and beautifully presented. I particularly like that the duck main course is a 'complete' dish with sweet potato and tenderstem broccoli. Service was polite and very efficient. It's definitely worth the drive from Loughborough and we are already looking forward to our next visit. 🥳”

“Our first time here and wow, we will absolutely be coming back. The food was absolutely outstanding and the presentation of every course was gorgeous. We had great service and thought the food was really reasonable for the quality you received. Lovely setting and decor, if we had any feedback it would be having some low volume music in the background, but this is just personal preference. Everyone was so lovely - we can’t wait to come back!”

“Delicious meals served in good time. Particularly like the inclusion of traditional ingredients not commonly seen on pub menus these days such as lambs Kidney, squid, belly of pork and a nice variety of fish. Also the puddings and desserts are at the same high quality as the mains. The set daytime menu is exceptional and not just a "small portion" version of items on the ala carte making it a great excuse to get a mid day hit of fine dining at a reasonable price”
