About The Crab and Cow

The Crab and Cow is a restaurant on Main St in Lutterworth, and its Pie Night menu includes a drink with the meal, so the drink is part of the offer rather than a separate order. A set menu is also offered in two-course and three-course options, so diners can choose the length of their meal. Pavlova appears on the dessert menu. The kitchen serves a roast dinner as well, giving the menu a main course beyond the pies.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the pie night and the hearty Sunday roast, with one diner calling the lamb roast with cauliflower cheese and a stuffing-filled Yorkshire pudding the best in a long time, and another praising a pigeon and game cobbler special alongside chunky chips. Close behind are the starters and puddings, including crispy egg, chicken fritters, cherry pavlova, bread and butter pudding and sticky toffee pudding, plus seabass and steak with king prawn. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and a few mention a good choice of gluten free dishes. The main complaints concern cost. One diner found portions small for the price, and another found the children's meals expensive, with a main at £11, though the set menus were called good value. A group of eight felt the repeated questions about who ordered which dish disrupted the atmosphere, and one reviewer noted a special had run out. Another liked the quick service less than a slower evening. One booking mix-up ended with the party seated in the bar area booths, and the staff laughed it off.

“Booked in for my birthday meal with my husband, lovely decor which matched the theme of the pub. The staff was lovely and very well presented. The service was good and we could take our time in between food. We had the fish cake and olives to start then the steak with king prawn for mains, everything was cooked to perfection and was hot when it came out . 5 star place and would definitely recommend”

“Very disappointed visit. Overpriced for size of portion you get. Have to give a tip which i dont mind if everything was good, however it wasn't. Spent most of the time whilst eating swatting flies that were on our table and food, only to be told that they are aware of them and had forgot to put out the citronella candles. No disrespect but if you know you have a fly issue you shouldn't forget especially at the prices they charge. It totally ruined our evening which was for a special occasion”

“Food was lovely we had set menu £22 for two courses or £28 for three courses which were good value. However the childrens meals were expensive. £5 a starter, £11 main and £6 pudding which was a shame. The staff were friendly but in no rush. No dogs allowed in the restaurant but they were allowed in the garden. Great food just don't take your children”

“Wow, first visit for a Sunday lunch/dinner. The staff here are very friendly and attentive and the service 5 ⭐. I ordered the crispy egg, and my partner the chicken fritters for starters - both dishes were excellent, so full of flavours and hot and well seasoned, really yummy! They ran out of the special (fish) so we chose the lamb, again this was probably the best Sunday roast I have had in a very long time, the portion size is gigantic! The flavours in the veg and cauliflower cheese delicious 😋, the lamb and gravy tender and super yummy, the stuffing in the Yorkshire pudding crispy and full of flavours, I was stuffed but had to try dessert! Chose the cherry pavlova and the bread and butter pudding special, both were very special and had so many flavours in them that compliment each other and take them to a whole new level of deliciousness. Absolutely everything was perfect here. Thank you so much!!”
