Quick info
About George street fish and chips
Fish and chips are the mainstay at George street fish and chips, a fish and chips shop on George St in Lutterworth, where cod comes in mini and large sizes. The counter also turns out battered sausage, kebabs, and chicken wings with chips, plus chips by the portion including a large. Orders are walk-in and cooked from scratch once you arrive, so there is a wait while the fryers do their work, and the team talks with customers at the counter in the meantime. Groups planning ahead can email a large order in advance and have it organised for collection at an agreed time, which takes the guesswork out of feeding a crowd. The shop trades Tuesday to Saturday and closes on Mondays and Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips cooked to order is what most reviewers come for, with a large chips and battered fish described as delicious and the chicken wings and chips as fresh. Staff draw the most consistent warmth. Reviewers call them friendly, polite and up for a chat while the food is prepared, and say waits stay short even when busy. One reviewer describes a pre-order of 35 meals for a school event that came out spot on, with clear email communication and well organised collection. The main complaint concerns the cod. One reviewer says a mini cod was watery, pale, greasy and mostly batter, with barely two mouthfuls of fish. Another says a large cod looked like a sausage, though that reviewer still rated the staff as great. Reviewers also recall a call to confirm an order after a Just Eat glitch, and a smiling team accommodating a big order shortly before closing.

“Well...my partner called in for fish & chips to save me cooking in this heat, kind thought but he shudnt have bothered. Had the mini cod which definately was not cod ( what there was of it) it looked watery & pale & was mainly batter if you count what was stuck to the batter which was very greasy there wasnt even 2 mouthfuls. Whate a waste of money, wont be goin back.”
