About Funky Cellar
Funky Cellar is a wine bar in London at 10a Lamb St, partly inside Old Spitalfields Market. It combines a cheese shop, a deli, a wine bar and a cocktail bar, so visitors can drink on site or buy wine, cheese and snacks to take home. The menu includes baked camembert with truffle, cheese fondue and a kimchi toasted sandwich, and olives are available too. Walls carry an assortment of objects, pictures and mirrors, and the tables are painted. A wine and cheese tasting experience is sold as a gift voucher, which suits anyone shopping for a present. A downstairs area can be reserved for events.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the cheese, whether a sharing cheese and meat board with dried apricots, a baked Camembert with truffle, or a cheese board that one diner's wife called very good. Close behind are the olives, described as gorgeous and juicy, and the French cider and dry red wine. Several praise friendly staff and the eclectic decor of objects and mirrors covering the walls, and a few mention the wine and cheese tasting bought as a gift. The caveats are specific. On the tasting, the cheeses arrived a bit cold, which made it hard to get the full experience. One pair felt the staff member could not answer questions about the wines, and the kimchi toasted sandwich was called just alright. A returning diner noted the menu had changed, with the cheese toastie and the bottomless raclette removed. One reviewer suggests booking ahead because part of the space sits within the busy market. One server still named five of the six cheeses on the tasting plate.

“Visited this little place in Spittlefields market to experience wine and cheese tasting that had been purchased as a gift. Really lovely Staff with high-quality service despite the fact that it’s a very casual setting, block wine and as well as other drinks and food. Dog friendly.”

“From organising the booking using a voucher bought by a friend to enjoying the food and drink the service was fantastic. Thank you. The eclectic mix of ‘stuff’ around the walls was just fascinating. Really good vibe. Would definitely recommend.”

“Alex was a great server and made our visit that much more enjoyable. We love coming here for a selection of great French food and drink. Unfortunately the menu was changed recently and certain classics such as the best cheese Toastie in London as well as the bottomless raclette have been removed but hopefully it will be back!”

“Got the wine and cheese experience for my Xmas gift. 6 small pieces of cheese plus 6 pieces of toast and 6 crackers! The cheeses were a bit cold so it was difficult to get the full tasting experience (although one was very tasty). Servers were attentive and were able to tell us the names of 5 out of the 6 cheeses we were served. The French cider they offer is excellent.”
