The Boot & Flogger
Quick info
About The Boot & Flogger
The Boot & Flogger is a wine bar at 10-20 Redcross Way in London, tucked away near Borough Market and London Bridge Station. Dark wood panelling lines the interior, which has Chesterfields and plenty of little nooks to settle into. A sheltered courtyard sits at the back. The wine selection is large and includes wine by the bottle. Beer is bottled only, with nothing on tap, and the spirits stop at three: gin, vodka and whisky. A private room is available for group events such as birthdays and baby showers. The bar takes walk-ins, and the team serves at the table.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the wine, with a large list and bottles of claret and prosecco named as highlights, alongside attentive, friendly table service. The dark wood interior with its little nooks and the sheltered courtyard at the back come up repeatedly, and several describe being away from the Borough Market crowds, so conversation is easy without shouting. The private room gets repeated praise from groups who held a birthday and a baby shower there. On the food, one reviewer calls the beef cheek very tender, with carrots and cauliflower cheese well cooked, and another loves the dense, rich chocolate brownie. Others are less sure: one finds the chicken under-seasoned and the squash soup sour, and says the price does not match the food. Slow service is the clearest complaint. A group booking describes a slow pace despite pre-ordered food, and one Sunday lunch diner reports waiting over an hour with no explanation, then walking out when the meals finally arrived, with staff who turned away without a word.

“This is such a wonderful pub! We booked a table for a small group in the courtyard and they were so attentive and welcoming. No large deposits, no minimum spend, no restrictions on adding some table decorations. Such a classy place with top staff! Inside is dark wood and atmospheric with lots of little nooks. The courtyard at the back is charming and and sheltered for hot days. We didn't have a full meal - just some snacks and some prosecco (which was so good!) - but I will definitely go back soon to sample some more of the menu.”

“We had a baby shower in the private room and the service was excellent and the atmosphere perfect! I would definitely recommend their private room for events. Location is very easy to find - close to London Bridge Station.”

“A traditional wine bar tucked away off the more beaten track nr Borough Market. Good food andcm wine, attentive team, consistently good and calm. Few great wine bars [original style & atmosphere] exists... this is one of the best still around, and not impacted by time. Go see.”

“Lovely evening here - the staff were lovely, the food good and really enjoyed the way it’s been set up. Nice to be slightly away from the Borough Market crowds and on a hot day the AirCon was great.”
