Quick info
About Vagabond Wines Monument
Vagabond Wines Monument is a wine bar at 51 Gracechurch St in London, open daily. Guests pour their own wine from self-pour machines holding more than 100 wines by the glass, tap a card at the machine to pay for each glass, and choose how much goes into it. Staff are on hand to talk through the wines and suggest food and wine pairings. The kitchen sends out seasonal small plates and sharing boards, and the food menu includes a cheese board. Cheese and wine tastings run as a separate event format. The venue takes private hire and corporate events, and seating is spread across a variety of areas. Tasting cards describe the wines, so you can read about a pour before you choose the next one.

Customer Review Summary
The two critical reviews carry specific complaints. One wine-savvy reviewer found many wines did not match the descriptions on the tasting cards, called the selection uninspiring and the cost high per litre, and thought the cheese board, including Cheddar, was only okay. Another spent at least 15 minutes trying to claim an app discount, was sent outside for a signal and found the email link expired, after which the manager said the discount could not be applied by hand.

“Amazing wine tastings! So many options, and great assistance fro Olga and others on the team at Monument. Cannot wait to return. What a unique experience to try wines your pocketbook wouldn't typically afford. Unparalleled! Olga is the best truly!”

“What a lovely, relaxed experience. It’s great to have the option to browse the wines yourself and if you want to know more the staff are very knowledgeable. Alina helped us with recommendations and was very friendly. The food was delicious as well.”

“The concept at Vagabond Wines Monument immediately caught our attention: a place where you can sample small portions of wine by pouring them yourself from the machines and paying per glass. It sounds like a fantastic idea — a great way to discover many different wines without committing to a full glass or bottle. Unfortunately, the reality was rather disappointing. Despite having done many wine tastings myself and having a decent interest in wine, I found the selection quite uninspiring. Many of the wines simply did not match the descriptions on the tasting cards, which was probably the biggest letdown. When the main attraction is the wine itself, inaccurate labels are a serious issue. On top of that, the prices are extremely high when calculated per litre. Of course, the concept, the equipment and the whole experience have to be paid for, and I understand that this is partly a lifestyle venue rather than a traditional wine bar. However, for me, the quality and selection of the wines did not justify the price. The cheese board was okay, but nothing special either. Including Cheddar felt a little underwhelming for a place that is supposed to celebrate wine and food pairings, even if it is located in England. Overall, it is an interesting concept and a nice place to experience once, but because the core product — the wine selection — was not convincing, I cannot rate it higher than two stars.”

“We had such an amazing experience at Vagabond Wines Monument, and a huge part of that was thanks to Alina from Moldova. She made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived and delivered exceptional service throughout the evening. Every recommendation she gave us was absolutely epic, the wines and the food pairings, everything was spot on. Her knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail really elevated the whole experience. We left super happy after the meal and already looking forward to coming back. This is a well-deserved shout out to Alina for making our night so memorable. Thank you for the outstanding hospitality!”

“I came for a casual drink with a friend, I have visited this bar many times. However, today Alina and Olga made this the most fantastic experience. Their knowledge of the wines, their regions and varieties was absolutely exemplary. We felt incredibly welcomed and had the most wonderful time. This will be a repeat of visit for us both. Once again, a huge thank you to Olga and Alina - they deserve the upmost respect and we will continue to enjoy this wonderful bar. Highly recommend.”
