Quick info
About The Bountiful Cow
The Bountiful Cow is an independent, family-run steak house in London at 51 Eagle St, with a bar upstairs and the restaurant downstairs. The downstairs kitchen is open, so the cooks work in view of the dining room. The menu centres on steak, with ribeye and T-bone cuts served with chips. Beef burgers also feature, along with a steak chimichurri sandwich. Sides are ordered separately from the mains, so diners can add what they want to each plate. The upstairs bar works as a pub space on its own, separate from the dining room below. Food is served at both lunch and dinner.

Customer Review Summary
Steak is the draw, with diners praising the flavour and medium-rare cooking, a ribeye more tender than the peppery sirloin, and a shared T-bone with sides. Chips come with it and are called terrific. Close behind are the huge beef burgers, a bacon cheeseburger, and a steak chimichurri sandwich one reviewer rated the best they had had, while the prawn starter also earns mentions. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, in a relaxed room with a bar upstairs and the restaurant downstairs. The caveats are small: one reviewer notes steak comes with chips only, no vegetables, and sauces only on request, and another dislikes tips being pushed on the bill. One reviewer jokes the menu is steak all the way down, a poor fit for vegans. A table of eight had food arrive quickly, and one guest had their bags kept in a secure room.

“I’m absolutely blown away by the quality and incredible taste of the food! Everything was beyond my expectations, and the staff were exceptionally professional, welcoming, and attentive. I’ve been wanting to visit this restaurant for such a long time, and I’m so happy to say that the wait was completely worth it. The steak chimichurri sandwich was honestly the best I’ve ever had — absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and great service. A fantastic experience from start to finish!”

“★★★★★ Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. The steaks were cooked to perfection tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. The service was just as impressive. The staff were genuinely welcoming, attentive without being intrusive, and made us feel looked after throughout the evening. The atmosphere was warm, stylish, and perfect for a relaxed dinner. Without a doubt one of the best steakhouses I’ve been to. Amazing food, fantastic hospitality, and great value for the quality. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional steak experience.”

“Had such a lovely time at The Bountiful Cow. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. A big thank you to Stella and Alex for their kind, attentive service, they made us feel so well looked after. It was also a real pleasure to meet Cveta, the owner and chef, who is truly lovely. Looking forward to coming back again soon.”

“One of the better steak places in the City. Also doesn't fool around with calling itself with fancy arty farty names (like say Garden Grill, or Argentinian House etc). Right to the point. There'll be a cow. And there'll be a bountiful Cow. No messing. If you want steak, you get steak. Comes with chips. Doesn't try to give you vegetables, no green, no carrots nothing. No sauces (you can ofc ask for ones you'd want). None of chef's special this or that. Just meat. And that meat is amazingly flavoured. You can order the sides, but it'll not be served to fulfill your 1 of 5 a day, it'll be like Anne Hathway's role in The Dark Knight rises, you'll wonder what it is doing here and what is its purpose, but you'd not complain much that it's there. 4 stars and not 5 for service because - personal reason. I always tip 10%, but hate it when restaurants (you can increasingly notice it in the UK post Covid) push tip on their bills the way Americans do. Just hate that rotten tipping culture.”

“A friendly steak restaurant tucked away on the back streets of Holborn near Midtown. It is more or less steak all the way down, and very tasty, too. Maybe don't bring your vegan girlfriend here unless you want her to split up with you (then, do).”
