About Temper Soho

At 25 Broadwick St in Soho, London, Temper Soho is a steak house built around a custom fire pit, where the team butchers rare-breed British beef in-house, dry-ages every cut and cooks all the meat over live flames. The open kitchen puts the grill and the central cooking pit in view of the dining room. The menu is built on small sharing plates, with bone-in rib eye, beef empanadas and a cheeseburger taco among the dishes. The bar mixes cocktails, including spicy mezcal margaritas. A bottomless BBQ brunch runs with a resident DJ and a saxophonist, and steak and eggs feature on that menu. For groups, the restaurant has a private dining room and large tables. Reservations are required.

Customer Review Summary

Steak draws the most comment, though opinions split. Diners praise an excellent rib eye, a steak cooked perfectly and the steak and eggs at bottomless brunch, while others found a bone in rib eye overcooked and short on flavour, a steak tough and bland, and a chewy picanha. Cocktails come close behind, with spicy mezcal margaritas, mimosas and mocktails singled out, along with bone marrow, beef empanadas, temper fries and a cheeseburger taco. Two reviewers found the brunch tacos and the brisket carnitas dry and low on flavour. Several felt the meal was expensive for the portions, and a few objected to the 15% service charge, one describing being told to pay it or leave a tip, plus slow attention from servers in a fairly empty room. The open kitchen and fire pit, the live DJ and saxophonist, and the large tables draw praise. One birthday group was brought a cake and sung to by their waitress.

“Came with a friend for bottomless brunch £45 each. Service was great, really attentive staff, filled our drinks well, live DJ and saxophonist. Lovely open kitchen concept where you can watch the grill. Tacos were disappointing, no real flavour and a bit dry, not a great starter. My main was the steak and eggs, cooked perfectly how I liked it, chips were perfectly crunchy and flavourful, only downsize is that the steak is a bit small for the price of the brunch. Mimosas and mocktails were delicious. Overall a great experience and would come back.”

“Strange experience with regards to payment, told we must either pay the DISCRETIONARY service charge (for a service which was subpar, with a seemingly new waitress attending to us) and were then quizzed on which method of payment we were going to use or instead leave a mandatory tip of £5? No wonder your restaurant is empty if you’re forcing customers to pay your servers. We live in England not America and tips should be reserved for an outstanding service- which I definitely did not receive here. Restaurant was relatively empty but we found ourselves constantly surveying around to attract the attention of a server. Left a sour taste at the end of the meal, will not be returning. Only beef empanadas worth ordering again and temper fries (though very expensive again). Everything else was overpriced or unfavourable unfortunately and left more to be desired.”

“Had a great evening at Temper Soho. The food was excellent from start to finish, with plenty of flavour in every dish and some really high-quality ingredients. The steak was cooked perfectly and was definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The cocktails were also outstanding — well balanced, creative, and just as impressive as the food. It’s rare to find a place that does both so well. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the evening. Overall, a fantastic meal and somewhere I’d happily recommend to anyone visiting Soho.”
