Quick info
About HS & Co
HS & Co is a steak house on 405 High St in London, with steak at the centre of the menu. The roast chicken comes as half a chicken in a large Yorkshire pudding with vegetables, so the roast is served in one dish. Lamb shank appears on both the normal menu and the set menu, and mac and cheese is one of the starters. The set menu runs to a starter, main and dessert, with smaller portions than the normal menu. The kitchen is open, so diners can watch the food being cooked. A private room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lamb shank, described as tender enough to fall off the bone and served with mash that was neither too runny nor too creamy. The steak comes close behind, called juicy and perfectly cooked, and the roast chicken, mac and cheese and crème brûlée also get mentions. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and the set menu draws praise for its size, though one reviewer found the roast chicken lacking flavour, the apple crumble watery at the bottom and the bill raised by a charge for table water. Servers are described as friendly and welcoming, with one speaking French to a guest's family and a manager bringing a fan in the heat. The main complaint is pacing: one diner waited far too long with only a few tables occupied and saw few waiters, while another had some starters arrive with mains and some mains follow within minutes of starters. One reviewer ordering ice cream got four scoops instead of three, though they were small.

“We were recommended the place so that my family & I could share a vibe, eat and have a good time. The staff are super friendly; Hamid and Ayoub personally took care of our table and were so socialable. My family is a French speaking family & appreciated Ayoub’s efforts in conversing with them in French so thank you for that HS & Co. Most importantly the food are not only well cooked but the portions are a generous size if you do come here you will not be disappointed”

“I had a good time at my birthday dinner, the steak was amazing - juicy, tasty and melted in my mouth. Good service, high quality food, cozy decoration and overall very happy with HS & Co. Will definitely visit again.”

“The food was very nice at this establishment. I will definitely be returning here. The service was lovely. Especially from Saed and Ayub, they made the experience that much more enjoyable. Thank you! The kitchen is open and you can see them cooking the food. A particular detail I noticed was that there was absolutely no shouting in the kitchen. They had perfect communication and just knew what to do. The food was on point. Some of us ordered from the set menu which I completely recommend especially if you’re trying to watch how much you spend. £33.50 for a starter, mains and desert that are all smaller portions to the same items on the normal menu. In my humble opinion, the portion sizes were not small and it satisfied me and my family that also ordered it. For reference, the lamb shank in the photo is on the set menu, and on its right is from the normal menu.”

“This place was phenomenal from start to finish. The food was outstanding, and Said was lovely; he really looked after us. The lamb shank fell right off the bone, and the mash was spot on, neither too runny nor too creamy. The portions were generous too, and we left completely stuffed. The staff were very accommodating and happy to modify our meals. And the dessert, oh my goodness! It was absolutely lovely, the perfect finishing touch. It's the kind of place you go for a great meal and even better conversation. They also have a private room, which is a nice bonus. I had an absolute ball!”

“Food was great tasty and the service was brilliant. Warm welcoming to the restaurant, atmosphere was relaxing. The best part is there was somewhere quiet to read your namaaz without feeling uncomfortable. Clean and dirty restaurant.”
