Customer Review Summary
Diners most frequently single out the Taiwanese popcorn chicken for its crispy, juicy authenticity, with many also praising the braised pork rice and sesame oil noodle as standout dishes. The mooli cake and fried chicken earn repeated mentions for their flavor and texture, while the mulled kaoliang and cocktails add a noted creative touch. Several describe the space as warm and cosy with a genuine Taiwanese vibe. A recurring caveat is portion size, with multiple reviewers calling the small plates tapas-style and too modest for the price, and one specifically criticising the basil chicken and pork rib soup as bland or inauthentic. One reviewer reports a dispute over feedback that escalated publicly online. Close behind the praise, the braised beef and rice cake with spring onion and egg are named as disappointing by another.

“Incredible food, impeccable service, an extremely warm welcome from the owner. Our new favourite restaurant! Order the Mooli Cake! …”

“Disappointing food, and an unexpected aftermath. I ordered the braised beef, the rice cake with spring onion and egg, and the three-cup chicken, along with a cup of Dong Ding oolong tea. The total, before the 12.5% service charge, came to over £30 for a solo diner. The food did not meet the standard I had hoped for. The braised beef in particular I found difficult to finish. Given the prices —£7.80 for the braised beef, £8.50 for the mooli cake with spring onion and egg, £10 for the three-cup chicken, £4.25 for a cup of Dong Ding oolong tea. When the front-of-house manager (the owner's partner) asked for my feedback, I shared my honest opinion politely and directly. I acknowledged that running a restaurant in a less central location is genuinely difficult, and I had no intention of writing any public review afterwards. What changed my mind was what happened when I got home. The owner posted about our interaction on Threads, presenting a one-sided account of the conversation and misleading the audience, more seriously, framing it in terms of Hong Kong identity in a way that directed online hostility towards me. As a journalist with nearly ten years of experience in Hong Kong and a background in food writing. I gave honest feedback when asked. I was not rude and very reasonable, and I had chosen not to write anything publicly until that post appeared. I am writing this now simply to give an accurate account of what happened, and to let people draw their own conclusions. The response to a customer's honest feedback was, I felt, disproportionate and unfair.”

“Disappointing! As someone who loves Taiwanese food and been to Taiwan a few times The portion is way too small and quality of food is not okay… Basil chicken is like 5 tiny pieces, and it does not taste authentic as well. The soup cost 10.8 pounds, but it feels it has only been cooked for 10 mins, you can not taste the umami at all - it feels like water with 2 pieces of pork ribs only - very bland. The noodle cost 6.8 pounds and really small portion only one bite, also not flavorful enough The pancake is too savory and the tofu is poorly cooked. That being said, the taiwanese fried chicken is pretty good But not recommending for the CP value”

“It felt just like being back in Taiwan!! I loved the Sesame Oil Noodle, braised pork rice, pork rib soup and hot grass jelly dessert ,all were authentic. The mulled kaoliang was a lovely surprise too!! The restaurant has a warm Taiwanese vibe and feels really cosy!!”

“We've been twice now and both meals were superb... A great selection of dishes to choose from and lots of gorgeous flavours to enjoy. All the dishes we ordered I'd order again, but only after trying everything else on the menu!”

How this listing is sourced
- Where the data comes from
- Name, address, hours, contact details, amenities, ratings and review counts come from the business's publicly available profile data — not from the owner and not from paid submissions.
- How it stays current
- Every listing is re-checked on a recurring crawl, and anything reported as wrong is corrected at the source rather than patched on the page.
- How it is ranked
- Placement is never sold. Every business on the page is ordered and compared using the same public signals, so an owner cannot pay to move up.
