Quick info
About The Blue Legume
The Blue Legume is a Mediterranean restaurant in London on Stoke Newington Church St, where exposed-brick walls line the dining room. The breakfast menu centres on Turkish eggs, listed as chilli cılbır, alongside shakshuka. Brunch adds the Healthy Avocado Dream for those who want something lighter. Juices sit on the drinks list next to the food. The kitchen serves from breakfast through to dinner, so the same menu format carries across the whole day. Dogs are welcome, which suits owners who want to bring a pet along.

Customer Review Summary
Pancakes come up most often at The Blue Legume, with reviewers calling them excellent and one naming them the best in London. Close behind are the shakshuka, the chilli cilbir, the Healthy Avocado Dream and a salmon salad, and one diner singles out the eggs. Several describe a lovely outdoor terrace and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and one reviewer rates it among the best Turkish food in London. Tea arrives in pots, and a few mention the staff being friendly and patient with a young child. The main caveat is how busy it gets, especially at weekend breakfast and brunch. One reviewer found the service a bit slow at a very busy time, while others say staff handled the rush well, and several suggest booking ahead. A separate reviewer notes that empty plates sat uncleared until they asked for the bill, and that a second bill arrived after one had already been paid at the cashier. One family was given a free dessert.

“Great brunch with delicious food! I had the Healthy Avocado Dream and my husband had the pancakes—both were excellent. The service was a bit slow, but it was understandable since the restaurant was very busy. Overall, a lovely experience and we’d happily come back.”

“Beautiful and cozy restaurant with a clean, stylish interior and a lovely outdoor terrace. It was easy to have a conversation because the music was at a comfortable volume. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. We had two fish dishes. The salmon salad was my favorite—I liked it so much that I even tried to recreate it at home. 😄 The service was fast, although we visited outside of the busy hours. The only downside was that after we stacked our empty plates, no one came to clear them until we asked for the bill. Another funny moment was that my friend had already paid at the cashier, but 2–3 minutes later, while he was in the restroom, we were brought the bill again. 😂 Despite these small issues, we really enjoyed our visit and had a great experience overall.”

“Came here for breakfast with my family and had a great experience. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was really tasty. The pancakes were excellent, and the shakshuka was one of the best things we ordered. The restaurant was quite busy, but the staff were still attentive and welcoming. I'd recommend booking ahead as it seems to be a popular spot. We'll definitely be back.”
