About Yeni Umut 2000 Dalston

At 6 Crossway in London, Yeni Umut 2000 Dalston is a family-run Turkish restaurant that has been operating for 25 years. The kitchen cooks its meat over coal on a large grill at the entrance, and the menu is built around that grill. Adana kebab and liver from the grill are both ordered repeatedly, so they are good places to start. Cold mezze such as ezme salad sit alongside the grilled mains. A complimentary salad and bread come with the meal, and the bread is topped up as the table eats. The restaurant opens daily and stays open late, which suits a late-night dinner.

Customer Review Summary

Grilled liver is the dish diners name most, with one calling it the best bbq liver they have had, though another found it a bit dry. Close behind are the coal-cooked meats, with reviewers praising smoky lamb, chicken thighs, kofta and Adana kebab, plus the flatbreads used in wraps. Ezme is singled out as a standout, alongside crisp rolled filo with cheese, hummus and aubergine with yoghurt. One reviewer finds the Adana short of the original in Adana, and says the ayran and şalgam merely did the job. Another wanted larger portions of rice. Service draws mixed accounts. Several call it warm, friendly and fast, while one reviewer reports uneven treatment of Turkish and Kurdish customers by some older female staff. Another describes a wrong order, takeaway when they wanted to eat in, met with no apology and no fix. Reviewers also mention the free salads, and bread that staff topped up without charge.

I’ve eaten here many times and have always had a great experience. The Turkish dishes are authentic and really tasty, especially the grilled meats. “My mum loves this place and has been coming for ages, we said we wanted to eat in and they done take away, and didn’t even care that they messed up the order no apology no fixing the situation just ignoring the whole issue. To be freak it made us not want to come again. En azından insan özür diler hatasına ama öyle bir şey olmadı “ yanlış yaptım al git” gibi bir şey oldu çok ayıp.”

“**A Must-Visit in Hackney** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you consider yourself a fan of Turkish food and you haven’t tried Omet 2000, you quite simply do not know Turkish food. The atmosphere here is amazing, and the service is absolutely outstanding. The chef is a legend. He came over to our table, greeted us, and made us feel so welcome. As for the food, everything was incredible. The kofta was hands down the best I’ve ever had, the chicken thighs were amazing, and the liver was out of this world. Even the bread, rice, and salad were spot on. Do yourself a favor and stop by. This place is something truly special.”

“It is not the greatest place to sit in. However, the food was great. The service was typical Turkish hospitality and That is all what you can ask on an evening with good friends. Did I mention i had the best bbq liver ever? ?”

“This restaurant is genuinely one of my happy places in London. It strikes the perfect balance between price, flavour, and atmosphere without compromising on any of them; something that’s incredibly rare. In my opinion, it’s the best Turkish restaurant in London. The food has a depth of flavour that’s unforgettable, especially the grill, which has clearly been seasoned through decades of use. There’s a distinctive smoky richness to the meat that you simply cannot replicate or find elsewhere. The service is always warm, welcoming, and attentive, even when they’re busy. That said, if you can go during a quieter period, the experience becomes even more special and relaxed. Some restaurants feed you. Some restaurants become part of your life. This place is the latter.”
