About Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte
Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecôte is a French steak restaurant at 5 Throgmorton St in London, and part of a small chain. The meal follows one set menu: a walnut and mustard salad served with a baguette, then steak and fries with a sauce that comes alongside the meat. A second helping of steak follows the first, and the fries and sauce are refilled without limit, so the format suits anyone who wants a full plate more than once. Dessert is optional, with profiteroles and Le Vacherin du Relais among the choices. The dining room is open, with tables set close together, and a queue at the door is common. The steak is cooked rare or medium.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return for the steak and fries with the house sauce, which several call excellent or addictive, and the unlimited second helping of steak and fries is repeatedly cited as generous. The walnut and mustard salad with baguette and the profiteroles come close behind, though a few find the mustard too strong. Fries draw mixed reactions, from crispy and perfectly cooked to oily, hard or overcooked. Service is the main complaint. Reviewers describe waiting around ten minutes despite free tables, a server who didn't notice plates and refilled the whole table at once, and a rehearsed, cold manner. One diner who asked to change medium to well done was told it would be a hassle, then received meat burnt outside and still medium inside with pale fries. Others call the tables tightly packed and the room loud and busy, and a couple felt the steak was only okay for the money. Still, some praise fast table turnover and food arriving quickly. One diner whose steak had a problem had their dessert comped.

“I was there at the restaurant with 3 guests at around 6pm. We know the drill as we are regular customers. We waited in a long queue then went in when a table was available. The four of us were seated. We initially asked for 4 medium done, then when it was time to serve i asked her to chance mine to well done but she wasn't happy! I haven't eaten anything yet and i guess out of courtesy she should change my order to well done no big deal. But she said it will be a hassle and I need to wait 10 to 15 min to get my food and i said no worries. Then i noticed the fries came kind of white color ( not well fried). Then when my well done meat was served it was burnt from the outside and still medium from the inside. Very unprofessional and not decent to deal with your guest. Didn't like the meat nor the fries and not the service overall today.”

“Le relais de venise i entrecote started in france which serve only salad, steak, fries. For the steak, you can have two rounds, fries and sauce are unlimited. Steak are of good quality. I believe each portion would be around or less than 150g so works out you would get around 300g, fries are skinny fries, it goes really well with their signature sauce. However server doesnt really see how many you have left on your plate, once someone of your table need to refill, they will refill the whole table lol. And we waited for at least 10 minutes despite there are tables available. And waitress also didnt serve us immediately despite they only have 1 item on the menu.”

“This is easily one of my favorite spots in the city! The menu is super simple, but everything they do, they do so well. You start with a simple lettuce, walnut and mustard salad with a fresh baguette, and I genuinely didn’t know lettuce could taste this good. Then the steak and fries, which hit every single time. The steak is always cooked perfectly, the fries are ridiculously addictive, and that sauce!!! I could honestly eat it with a spoon. And you HAVE to save room for the profiteroles. The warm, dark chocolate sauce with the cold ice cream and crunchy roasted almonds is just heavenly. I also love the atmosphere here. It genuinely feels like you’ve stepped into a restaurant in Paris - chic and a little fancy, but still warm and inviting. The service is always great too. Could not recommend it enough. 10/10 every time!”

“Tbf I don’t know why this place was popular. Went there, it was super empty and yet they put us on a tightly-set dining tables that needs to be shifted when I’m going out. The servers were also quite meh. Not warm at all and just saying what they have rehearsed 1000x. The food I think the worst out of all the aspects, the walnut salad was nothing special, the steak was also nothing special (expected more foe 33 quid). The fries was hard, seems like being fried for multiple times. The only thing good out of the whole meal is the baguette Overall, not a big fan. Feels like a tourist trap. The venue was pretty though”

“Since the lunch menu only allows you to order one item and the waitress was pushing this option, I expected it to be excellent. Instead, it was just okay. the steak was a oaky a a bity limp, and the fries arrived overcooked. Overall, it didn’t feel worth £38. You can get better lunch menus at other steak restaurants for a similar price. Disappointed, and I wouldn’t return.”
