About Café Palestina
Café Palestina is a Palestinian restaurant at 53 Fortess Rd in London that also works as a shop and community space. A small display room behind the dining area sells olive oil, soap, ceramics, plates and cups, so diners can take Palestinian products home after a meal. The kitchen serves dips such as mutabbel and hummus with bread, and an all-day breakfast that includes halloumi and olives. Plant-based and gluten-free choices are on the menu, including gluten-free pita, and a tasting menu is available. The building is home to the charity CADFA, and a basement activity room hosts classes and Palestinian human rights events. The team also runs a vegan supper club.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the dips, with the muttabal named repeatedly as a favourite alongside a creamy, nutty hummus served with bread. Close behind are the all-day breakfast, the okra main, falafel with halloumi salad, and gluten free pita, with one diner praising the tasting menu for its leftovers and another the Arabic coffee. Vegan options and a Thursday vegan supper club also draw mention. Many describe a warm, home-like room, friendly staff, and food they call reasonably priced for London. A shop area with Palestinian ceramics, olive oil, and soap lets visitors buy items directly, and events and Arabic classes are mentioned too. The one caveat comes from a reviewer who found the tabbouleh quite salty and the olives even saltier, with halloumi helping balance them. One reviewer suggests making a reservation. Another recalls a staff member coming in on a closed day so they could collect their forgotten keys.

“Ohhh my goodness. What a treat. From start to finish, we felt so taken care of by the two who were running Café Palestine. In fact, we felt guilty for how much concern and dedication they had for ensuring we had a big enough gluten free meal! They were so incredibly helpful. I wish we got the duo’s name. All I can say is that beyond the service, the food was also phenomenal. The dips were heavenly. The okra main was divine. And the gluten free pita was AMAZING. Make a reservation. You won’t regret it. Thank you for a perfect last night in London on a trip I’ll never forget ❤️”

“We stumbled across this cafe while on a walk. Amazing food, friendly team, beautiful ceramics/plateware and they’ve clearly thought a lot about how to create a warm, home-like experience. In an area full of pretentious instagram-ready places, this cafe is an oasis. We’ll definitely be back for more ful!!”

“Love this place! Always reliably great food, not too loud, and it’s reasonably priced, which is so rare to find in London. The staff are also super welcoming and kind. When I went most recently, I accidentally left my keys there and despite being closed the next day, someone kindly came by to open up so I could collect them. Would highly recommend.”
