About Laz @Camden
Laz @Camden is a Turkish restaurant at 41 Parkway in London, open daily. On Friday nights a band plays live Turkish music, and diners join in with singing and dancing, which gives the evening a shared, participatory focus. The kitchen sends out Mediterranean starters, crispy mantı with a sauce, and Albanian liver. Mixed grill rounds out the mains. The decor draws on old Istanbul and the Yeşilçam era, and the tables sit fairly close together.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the live Turkish music, with a band that got the whole room singing and dancing, and one reviewer says it grows livelier the longer the night goes on. The food comes close behind, with the Albanian liver named more than once, along with the kabak tatlısı, köpoğlu, zeytinyağlı fasulye, sarma, and a mixed grill, plus prawns and octopus. One reviewer found the crispy mantı not especially crispy. Several praise the owner's warm welcome and a server who made them feel looked after. The complaints are sharper. Two reviewers describe an older waiter as pushy about ordering more and pressing for a tip, and one says the card payment was rounded up without a word, which he explained as paying for complimentary tea. One group also found the kunefe too oily and the music late to start. Another reviewer was caught off guard by an entertainment charge added per head on top of the service charge, which stood out as the one downside of an otherwise enjoyable Friday night.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The moment you step inside, you find yourself surrounded by the wonderful nostalgia of old Istanbul and the golden era of Yeşilçam. The atmosphere is truly unique and full of character. The food is absolutely delicious, and everything is prepared with great care. The owner’s warmth, kindness and genuine hospitality made the experience even more special. We loved everything and had such a wonderful time. I think the area is truly lucky to have a restaurant with so much character, soul and flavour. Definitely a place we will come back to. ❤️”

“We experienced the old greedy man serving us. Unfriendly and pushy to spend & spend and kept forcibly pressuring for a tip when paying the bill. Always happy to tip but this gentleman did not deserve it. We dined here 2 adults and a child on a weekday for lunch. Ordered some lunch sets and lamb shish ala carte. There was only the older man serving us and he was just not nice. Money grabbing restaurant, uncomfortable dining. Avoid this place if you can. Other reviews are correct. They just forcibly want ££££.”

“Amazing service from Ayse! We had a wonderful dinner at Laz Restaurant, all thanks to Ayse. She was absolutely lovely and so incredibly helpful. Her warm hospitality genuinely made us feel like we were back at mom’s for dinner. She treats her guests with so much respect. Management, please make sure Ayse sees this—she deserves all the recognition! We will definitely be back.”

“We had such a lovely dinner at Laz Camden with my friends. We shared a selection of dishes including köpoğlu, zeytinyağlı fasulye, crispy mantı, Albanian liver, kuru dolma, enginar and crispy courgette, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food tasted fresh, authentic and full of flavour, and the staff were all so kind and welcoming, which made the evening even nicer. The highlight for me was definitely the kabak tatlısı. I honestly didn’t expect to find such a delicious version in London, but it was amazing! Such a warm, lovely place with great food and great people, I would definitely recommend it!”

“We went there as a group of 6 and we were excited for the food and live music. But what a disappointment! The food was nice but the dessert was too oily and below standard. We got the Kunefe. The music started 20 minutes later than they said and they were very average (being kind). The worst part of the experience was the service. When we ordered 2 mixed grills (sides + starters etc) the older waiter’s attitude changed, wanting us to order more. The cherry on top was when the bill came and we paid by card, he nicely rounded the number up without a word of communication. When confronted, he said he gave complimentary tea (a previous waitress told us this was part of the service). Do not recommend! Avoid at all cost. What a horrible experience.”
