About Al Arez
Al Arez is a Lebanese restaurant at 101 Edgware Rd in London. It opened in 2005 as one of the first few of its kind in the area. The menu covers shawarma, including a moutabel shawarma, along with sheesh taouk wraps. From the grill comes a full baby chicken served with rice, and kibbeh besseneyeh sits among the other dishes. Waiters bring orders to the table. An outside area is set aside for shisha, which gives smokers a place of their own. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the grilled meats, with reviewers calling the chicken tender and juicy and the meat cooked to perfection, and one saying it reminds them of home in Lebanon. Close behind are the lamb chops, kibbeh besseneyeh and moutabel shawarma, described as delicious and well seasoned. Waiters draw repeated praise as friendly, welcoming and attentive. Two reviewers describe a family-friendly atmosphere, one calling it loud, and one finds the sheesha flavours dated. The complaints carry real weight. One reviewer found a full baby chicken with plain rice dry and lacking seasoning, and another found the shawarma and sheesh taouk dry in cold, hard wraps with the sauce arriving only after they asked. Others describe slow service, no greeting on arrival and a curt, dismissive waiter. One reviewer reports that, after a delayed order, a manager physically assaulted them and told them to go back to their country, and says they contacted the police. In the dry shawarma case, a staff member apologised for the slow service and promised it would not happen again.

“Al Arez on Edgware Road is an outstanding restaurant that never disappoints. The food is exceptionally fresh, authentic, and full of flavour, with generous portions and beautifully presented dishes. Every item we ordered was cooked to perfection, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. The service was equally impressive—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel valued from the moment we arrived. The warm atmosphere makes it an ideal place for families to enjoy a relaxed meal together. If you’re looking for delicious Middle Eastern cuisine and excellent hospitality, Al Arez is an absolute must-visit with your family. Highly recommended!”

“I came here alone on the evening of Tuesday 2nd June. No one greeted me when I walked in, and I had to pick my own table. I then sat there for 10–15 minutes with no one coming over — and I was the only customer in the place. Eventually I spotted the little QR code on the table for the menu, which I had to figure out for myself. They could easily have pointed that out when I sat down. When someone finally served me, it was the tall waiter in the black shirt and red tie, and he had a real attitude — no respect, like he couldn’t care less that I was there. When I asked what drinks they had, he answered curtly and seemed completely unbothered. The full baby chicken and rice I ordered was dry and totally lacking flavour. It was like eating cardboard, just plain rice and some lettuce with zero seasoning. A waste of almost £20, and I’d travelled all the way from Birmingham for it. Rude, dismissive service and forgettable food. I won’t be back.”

“We had a fantastic dinner at Al Arez! The food was delicious, but what made the night truly special was our waiter, Bilel. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made great recommendations. 5 stars”
