About Taste of Lahore
Taste of Lahore is a small Pakistani restaurant on Edgware Rd in London, at 256B. The menu is broad, and the Nihari is made with lamb shank. The Kabuli pilau also comes with lamb shank, garnished with raisins and carrot, while the haleem is made with shredded lamb and lentils. Grilled dishes arrive with mint sauce and an in-house chilli sauce. Rice and bread are not included with the dishes, so diners order naan or roti as extras. The kitchen stays open until late, which suits late-night meals.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the nihari and the lamb dishes, with the lamb shank in the nihari described as fall off the bone and the curry sauce as rich. The haleem is called the pick of one group's iftar meal, and the kabuli pilau with lamb shank, lamb karahi and biryani get repeated praise, one calling the biryani meat moist and falling off the bones. Close behind are the grills: seekh and lamb kebabs, lamb chops and grilled chicken, described as juicy and tender with mint sauce and house chilli sauce. Kima, garlic and Peshawari naan also get mentions. Complaints centre on value and heat. One diner found the dishes expensive, with rice and bread charged as extras and staff answering "that's how it's served," and called the food very spicy. Another said the bill ran slightly high, and one noted a couple of forgotten items that needed flagging down. Several mention friendly service, and one diner describes taking leftover pilau and karahi home and eating it again.

“Another day, another opportunity to enjoy the authentic flavors of Lahore while strolling through the charming streets of London. Each dish is rich in flavor, combining carefully selected spices with the tenderness and depth that come from slow-cooked perfection. The atmosphere is peaceful, clean, and welcoming. The food came quickly, though they forgot a couple items and we had to flag someone to compete the order. However, the quality and delicious flavors of the meal made the wait worthwhile.”

“We went here a year ago and had the mixed grill, it was great but something was lacking and I couldn't put a finger to it. Service was great, atmosphere was quiet as we came as it opened which we like, and the drinks are amazing, I love a mock tail or a lassi. We decided to go again as my mom loved it last time and I thought why not and we'll try something different, I saw the chefs special and we ordered both the kabuli pilau and lamb karahi. Both were amazing, I love my pilau and this is how i want it cooked every time. I love the sweet and umami taste, the lamb shanks were soft and tender and it was very filling. The lamb karahi was fabulous. I find some stores try to hard to replicate or overly spice it or it becomes salty and it ruins the meal however this karahi was spot on. The meat melted in your mouth, and it had the exact flavours we wanted. The amount of spice is also how we wanted it, nothing overly spicy just a small kick and it wasn't salty. Can definitely tell chef has upped his game. One thing I regret is not getting the kabuli kebabs. I'll have to order that next time. We barely had half a plate before we were stuffed. We had to pack the rest and once we got home from the trip we decided to have it at home again. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.”

“Everything we had was simply delicious. The Kima naan was tasty, spicy, and absolutely delicious for eating by itself or dipping in curry. The chicken kebap was yummy flamed chicken skewers. The chicken sag was the best one ive had, could not even tell it was spinach. The chicken tika masala was on point, one of the best ive had. The Nihari was so good, the lamb shank meat was fall off the bone and the curry sauce its in is soo good. The chicken tika biryani was delicious and flavorful, we couldnt get enough. I would definitely come back again, one of the best places for Pakistani food.”

“After reading the mind-blowing reviews, our expectations were quite high, but unfortunately, the experience didn't completely live up to the hype. The Good: The restaurant itself is quite small and humble, and the staff are incredibly nice and friendly. The food is well-cooked, flavorful, and genuinely tasty. The Downsides: A major drawback for us was the pricing and value. The dishes are on the expensive side, and they don't include staples like rice or bread—you have to order them as an extra, which feels a bit unfair given the base price. When we mentioned this, the staff just told us "that's how it's served." Additionally, the food is super spicy, so if you don't have a high heat tolerance, this isn't the place for you. Lastly, because of its central London location, parking is a nightmare and cost us around £8/hour. Overall, the food is good, but it wasn't a mind-blowing experience and it's definitely not cheap. Personally, I don't think I would visit again. Thanks a lot..”

“I recently visited Taste of Lahore Edgware Road and had a very enjoyable experience. The seekh kebab was excellent – full of flavour, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. The lamb biryani was also outstanding, with tender meat and authentic flavours throughout. The nihari was another highlight of the meal, rich, delicious, and clearly prepared with care. The service was equally impressive. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and ensured everything was taken care of throughout our visit. What stood out most was the authenticity of the food. Compared to some other branches and franchises of the same company, the quality here was noticeably better. Every dish tasted fresh and genuinely reflected traditional Pakistani cuisine. The bill was slightly on the expensive side, but that is probably due to the Shepherd's Bush location. Given the quality of the food and service, we felt it was worth it overall. Very happy with our meal and would happily return. The photos speak for themselves!”
