Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the homemade pasta, with a prawn pasta, a seafood pasta with mussels and clams, and linguine in tomato sauce all named, and several describe it as authentic and cooked to perfection. Close behind are the polpettine, a medium rare steak, and breaded veal, plus calamari and whitebait tempura starters. One diner called the arrabbiata the best in decades, and gluten free penne came in a large portion. The service is repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and the upstairs room under the glass ceiling is described as cozy and airy, though one reviewer felt the windows needed cleaning. Bread with olive oil gets a mention, and several consider the prices fair for the location. The dissenting review found the breaded veal with potatoes lacking standout flavors and the meal mediocre for the cost, though it called the calamari and whitebait satisfactory. One group of nine was seated upstairs after booking in advance, and the wine was called good.

“A truly lovely dining experience. Rucoletta combines a warm, stylish atmosphere with beautifully prepared food and genuinely attentive service. The ingredients were fresh, the flavours perfectly balanced, and every dish felt thoughtfully put together. What really stood out was the relaxed yet refined atmosphere — the kind of place where you can enjoy a great meal without feeling rushed. A wonderful spot for a relaxed dinner, a special occasion, or simply a memorable evening in London. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back. Tutto Bene! Specially thanks to Beatrice!”

“I recently discovered this restaurant. The experience was great from start to finish. The food was both authentic and well prepared, with the pasta cooked to perfection. It is increasingly difficult to find truly authentic Italian cuisine in London, as many establishments attempt to overcomplicate traditional dishes and lose sight of the fundamentals. Rucoletta, however, delivers exactly what one hopes for - simple, high-quality Italian food executed exceptionally well. The pasta in particular was outstanding: elegant, balanced, and prepared with care. No unnecessary embellishments, just genuine Italian cooking done properly. A special thank you to Alessandro and Kittu for their warm and attentive service throughout the evening. Their hospitality added greatly to the overall experience. I would certainly return and recommend this restaurant to others.”

“Rucoletta is a fantastic little Italian spot tucked just behind St Paul’s Cathedral. I went in without much expectation and left genuinely impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff are super friendly and attentive. I had a prawn pasta dish (can’t remember the exact name!) — it came with giant, juicy prawns in a beautifully balanced, light sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked and soaked up the flavours so well. You could tell the ingredients were really fresh. It was one of those dishes you don’t want to end. The service was quick even though the place was quite busy. The warm bread with olive oil they bring out is a nice touch, and overall, the prices are very fair for central London — especially for the quality you’re getting. It’s one of those rare places that feels like a local secret. No gimmicks, just really good food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving proper Italian!”

“If you are looking for fresh and yummy south italian food by Napolitan‘s, then you are just right here. The fresh Linguini with the perfect tomato sauce and the delicious polpettine (meatballs) were stunningly good. The bread was assume too. The nice white table cloths and setting in the upper Floor was very nice and uplifting the atmosphere as the ceiling windows and side windows needed some cleaning or nice curtains ☺️.”

“Warm welcome, informed and fun service accompanying the authentic food. 4 of us all very much enjoyed our food. In fact, our vegetarian friend said "This is the best arrabbiata I have enjoyed in my 60yrs." The veal was superb, subtle flavours, light breading. The salmon piece as a main was large and done to perfection (not overcooked as it often can be). The gluten free pasta (penne) portion was large and done very well. When in this neighborhood again, we'll return to try some of their other options. We sat upstairs, it's cozy, comfortable and the glass ceiling added to the ambience”
