Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the modern Indian cooking, with the sea bass in its velvety curry, the lamb shank madras, and the chilli paneer coming up as standouts. Close behind are the butter chicken with its rich tomato gravy and the okra, which one reviewer who usually dislikes okra called delicious. Garlic and peshwari naans are described as perfect for scooping up the curries, and a chocolate samosa is named as a fitting finish. Drinks draw steady praise, including the elderflower raspberry cooler, the pineapple and coconut lassi, and cocktails and mocktails, while one reviewer highlights the extensive vegan menu. Several credit individual servers for helping them choose dishes and for warm, attentive service. The criticism is mild: one found the social chicken curry tasty but not the best they have had, and another noted a few slightly overcooked dishes. One reviewer with allergies describes the restaurant as accommodating when they called twice to delay a reservation.

“Absolutely amazing food and service. Every dish was packed with flavour and we had fantastic service to match from Yllka, who recommended some delicious dishes and looked after us very well. I will be recommending and coming back myself very soon!!”

“Honestly the best restaurant I’ve been to in a while. It’s become a staple for me. It’s SUPER accommodating, as a person that suffers with allergies and once having to call twice to delay the reservation. The food is out of this world, I’d love to meet the chefs. The service is tip top, there’s not a single flaw. Compliments to all of you, keep doing what you’re doing!”

“visited balham social recently and really enjoyed the experience. the restaurant combines indian favourites with modern fusion dishes in a stylish and welcoming setting. standout dishes for me were the chilli paneer, 1990’s chilli chicken, harissa scallops and the lamb shank madras. the butter chicken had a rich, flavourful tomato gravy, while the garlic and peshwari naans were perfect for scooping up the curries. the elderflower raspberry cooler was refreshing, and the pineapple & coconut lassi was creamy and well-balanced. a few dishes were slightly overcooked, but overall the flavours were excellent. thank you to deepa and joydan for their warm and attentive service throughout the evening.”

“Had an amazing experience at Balham Social! The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding, but what really made the evening special was Haritha. She was incredibly warm, attentive, and professional throughout our visit. Her friendly attitude and excellent customer service made us feel genuinely welcomed and well looked after. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated and passionate about creating a great dining experience. Thank you, Haritha, for making our visit memorable — we’ll definitely be coming back!”

“10/10 food, service and fair price! Came here for a birthday and would come again, good portion size for us to share and fast service. The place was loud as they were busy but that’s more of others speaking too loudly not the restaurants fault!”
