About Holy Cow
Holy Cow is an Indian takeaway on Battersea Bridge Road in London, and its Battersea branch is the flagship, opened in 2006. The kitchen is open plan, so customers can see how the food is prepared. The menu centres on curries such as butter chicken, with peshwari naan to go alongside and onion bhaji as a starter. Orders come with free poppadoms and pickles, so the table has something to start on before the main dishes. A meal deal for one lets customers swap the drink for another. The shop is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the curries and starters, with the chicken tikka masala, chicken curry and butter chicken singled out, and the lamb kebab described as pink in the middle and full flavoured. Close behind are the onion and chicken pakoras, called crispy and not overly oily, along with a delicious peshwari naan and generous free poppadoms, pickles and mango chutney. Several describe friendly staff, one manager who was welcoming, and portions big enough to stretch a meal deal for one into two meals. A minority are sharply negative. One reviewer calls the portions the smallest ever, with flavourless chicken in a lumpy butter chicken sauce, another found the garlic naan raw, soggy and cold, and a third says five or six curries were all bad. One diner reports a bill higher than the menu prices, with a refund refused until they mentioned leaving a review. One reviewer asked to swap a side for okra, and the kitchen cooked the biryani with okra as well.

“had a fantastic experience at the Battersea branch of Holy Cow Fine Indian Takeaway. The quality of the food was excellent, with every dish full of authentic flavour and clearly prepared with care. A special mention goes to Sachin, the manager, who was extremely welcoming and professional. His attention to detail and customer service really stood out and made the overall experience even better. The food itself was outstanding. The chicken curry was rich, well-balanced, and perfectly spiced. The chicken pakora was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavour. The onion pakora was equally impressive—light, crunchy, and not overly oily. Overall, everything from the service to the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality Indian takeaway, and I will definitely be returning again.”

“Can’t fault this place! Will always return. Very kind on substituting a different drink on the meal for 1. Food portions are more than enough, I actually make two meals from the meal deal for one. Great staff. Great food. Generous with the free popadoms and mango chutney. Always a winner! Thank you!”
