About Mumbai Delight
Mumbai Delight is an Indian restaurant on South Lambeth Road in London, a 2 to 5 minute walk from Vauxhall Station. Chef Ajay, who was born in Mumbai and has worked in five-star and Michelin restaurants, leads the kitchen and cooks old, traditional Indian dishes that are rarely seen in London. The menu includes butter chicken and chicken biryani, and pappadums arrive with three sauces. Spices and local ingredients are blended into the cooking, so the dishes reflect the chef's Mumbai background. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaint comes from one detailed review of the chicken biryani, which that diner says tasted like ghee coated rice with chicken cooked separately and added later, lacking the aroma and flavour of a proper biryani. That reviewer adds that a team member seemed more focused on closing up than checking on the meal, and was unhappy with the chef's public reply. Another diner, by contrast, praises the chicken biryani, and a takeaway customer describes the lamb bhuna as tender and rich.

“I would recommend this restaurant. I been there yesterday and I have tried butter chicken and chicken biryani and I love it. I went with my family and we all loved it. Also prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. I must recommend this restaurant, if you are thinking to have good, tasty and comfortable dinner or lunch it is one of the best restaurants to visit.”

“I have eaten at Mumbai Delight several times when I am in town for business and it has always been excellent. Good service and atmosphere and very tasteful decor. This past weekend I ordered the Pappadums, which were nice and crisp with three sauces. For the main I ordered King prawn Balchao with mushroom rice. It was incredibly flavorful and had an excellent spice level - a good burn but not “knock your head off”. I would order all again, and I will be back.”

“Honest review, this wasn't a biryani. It tasted like ghee coated rice with chicken cooked separately and added later. It lacked the flavor, aroma, and cooking style of a proper Indian biryani. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I have had some good Indian biryani. But this is not good at all. Definitely not worth it. Response to you Mumbai delight - Dear Chef Ajay, thanks for your response! First of all, please stop getting offended when someone criticizes your food. This review was written because the biryani I received was genuinely disappointing. Instead of writing long responses defending it, that effort could be better spent improving the quality of the food. Your team member did ask for feedback but In fact, he seemed more focused on closing the shop quickly than checking whether everything was satisfactory also its expected for a biryani to have some flavour rather why do you wait for us to give feedback in such cases because I never had such an experience anywhere. Repeating my order details in your response does not make your version of events any more credible. I already know what I ordered. You say my review is inconsistent, but I believe the real issue is your reluctance to accept criticism. Also with respect to food quantity I never addressed this in my review anywhere, and if we want to order something we know to order Chef Ajay I don’t need your opinion or advice if that makes sense and we ordered on how much we want to eat( why would you decide it’s small quantity). And this makes it clear on your frustration on my review and your reluctance to accept your poor food taste. My opinion remains unchanged: what I was served did not resemble a proper biryani at all and, in my view, cannot be called a biryani at all. Worst biryani ever. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all because they will serve you anything and would write essays but won’t accept their food quality is poor. Thank you.”
