Customer Review Summary

Roast duck is what most reviewers return to, with several praising its crispy skin and juicy texture and one calling it the highlight of the meal. Close behind are the stir-fried noodles with lobster, the calamari, and the razor clams, while the steamed sea bass and grilled pork also earn mentions. Reviewers describe the food as authentic Cantonese and say fried dishes did not feel greasy. Service is called quick, polite and friendly, though one reviewer describes staff communicating through sighs and pointing, and another says they can be a bit pushy about leaving. The duck is not universal: one reviewer found it tasteless and preferred another restaurant's, and another called it the only good dish. That reviewer described the hotpot as leftovers under gravy, a small egg fried rice as overpriced, and reported a stomach ache afterward. Others found the dumplings and vegetable spring rolls too fried, and one did not care for the sweet and sour soup. Several note the location close to the tube station. The meal ends with fortune cookies brought to the table, which one reviewer called a playful touch.

“The cleanliness was great, impeccable. Service was not bad even though they can alternate with being a bit pushy to leave. Food was disappointing, the dumplings were too fried and the vegetable spring rolls were too fried. Roast duck did not have much flavour and was rather tasteless. I dare say even Wong Kee’s roast duck is much better.”

“I tried so many Chinese restaurants in the UK. For this one, only the duck is good. The rest are very bad. Hotpot is like a mix of leftover and gravy on top, noodle beef is the same, plain noodle with chewy beef and again gravy on top…a small egg fried rice is nearly £6! I also had stomach ache afterward Overall is too expensive for the quality of food. Service is good tho.”

“This was a lovely Cantonese style restaurant. I really like it. My friend took me there on a Saturday evening and we ordered four dishes for two people (really full). The service was fantastic and the taste of every dish was really authentic. There were many other people around us and the little restaurant became quite busy later on. The location was really convenient - so close to the tube station and we had a good walk around in Hyde Park afterwards. The toilet was well maintained.”

“Good experience at New Fortune Cookie! The roasted duck is a must-try - it was absolutely spot on. The service was efficient and the atmosphere was just ok. A solid choice for a delicious dinner.”

“This a great spot for authentic and stereotypical westernized Chinese food. The service is extremely quick and the employees here are very polite and friendly with their customers. I really enjoyed how despite some of the food we ordered being fried, there was no greasy feel to it at all. Everything tasted very fresh and didn’t leave you with that gross heavy feeling that some Chinese takeaway can leave you with.”
