Quick info
About Chai Wu
Chai Wu is a Chinese restaurant in London, set among marble and leather on the fifth floor of Harrods. The menu combines Chinese cooking with an Asian and Japanese fusion section, so dim sum and sushi rolls share the same list. Scallop dumplings come from the dim sum selection, Kobe beef puffs sit among the meat dishes, and lobster crispy noodles are on offer as well. Plates arrive with attention to presentation. The team explains the menu and makes recommendations for guests deciding between the Chinese and fusion dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the dim sum and dumplings, with the scallop dumplings called fresh and full of flavour and one diner praising a dim sum platter where each item had a twist. Close behind are the lobster crispy noodles, the sushi roll with crispy tempura shrimp and tobiko, the Wagyu steak, the Kobe beef puffs, the duck and the crab avocado salad. Presentation comes up repeatedly, and several describe the food as fresh and delicious. Service draws steady praise, with servers who gave recommendations, handled an allergy patiently, explained the menu to a family with a toddler, and kept checking in. The main complaint is pace. One reviewer waited a while before anyone came to take the order, and another felt dishes could have arrived a touch faster, though a third said food came out quickly and piping hot. One diner closes with a laugh that a server did not mind the soy sauce mess they made.
