About Dragon Chef
The munch box anchors the menu at Dragon Chef, a Chinese takeaway on Commercial Rd in London, a salt and pepper box of breaded chicken wings, chicken balls, prawns, ribs, lamb ribs and calamari served with salt and pepper chips and a pot of curry sauce. Portions run large enough to share between several people or keep back for the next day. Chow mein is another regular order, in meat and king prawn versions, and the counter staff ask whether you want each dish spicy before it goes to the kitchen. Alongside the main list of 11 dishes, a separate lunch menu runs, and starters include Sesame prawn on Toast, Chicken Satay and Crispy Seaweed. Orders are walk-in, placed and paid for at the counter, then collected once they are ready. Payment is cash only. The shop opens Monday to Sunday and closes on Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to the munch box above all, the viral box several found after seeing it on TikTok. They describe chicken wings, chicken balls, ribs, prawns, lamb ribs and salt and pepper chips with a pot of curry sauce, in portions said to feed three or four people, with leftovers lasting a couple of days. Ribs and prawns draw the most praise, and one reviewer notes extra prawns were added on request. Close behind are the king prawn chow mein, which came with real heat when asked for spicy, a meat chowmein with well-cooked noodles and a generous portion, and a Singapore special fried rice with prawns, chicken and beef that one diner calls a favourite. Complaints are small: chips that could be crisper, a bit more spice in the chowmein, and food that one reviewer found a little salty. One reviewer calls the experience disgusting and false advertising, without giving specifics. Several mention quick, friendly service, and one staff member was thanked for feedback on the food. One diner asked for each dish spicy or not, and the heat was there.

“A solid 4.5 stars for me and I have to be honest, this is my second time visiting after about a year or two and I can confirm that the taste profiles have all improved. Well done Chef Bing. I got to try their viral munch box, it was packed with lovely breaded proteins like chicken prawns, ribs, wings, calamari and salt and pepper chips with a pot of curry sauce. Everything had good flavour and overall l really enjoyed the meal. The only thing I might add is that the chips would have been better a little crisper.”

“Tried this for the first time and the hype is justified. Ordered the munchbox and honestly it was amazing. The chicken and prawns had flavour. The ribs were tender. Definitely recommend.”
