About Stables Café
Stables Café is a small cafe in Dollis Hill, London, set in a historic stable on the edge of Gladstone Park. A few tables fill the interior, and the menu is a small one covering breakfast and lunch options. Savoury scones and turnovers appear on the list, and the desserts include pavlova and a breakfast cheesecake. Home-made cakes are on offer for walk-ins, with no booking needed for those. Breakfast is the exception and must be pre-booked.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the cakes and desserts, with the pavlova singled out as the best one reviewer has had and a breakfast cheesecake named as a longtime favourite. Close behind are the coffee, described as good and delicious, and the savoury scone, soft inside with a slight crisp outside. Turnovers and fresh salads also get a mention. Many praise the friendly, warm staff, and the setting in a historic stable on the edge of the park, with greenery and birdsong, comes up repeatedly. The main caveat is access to food. One visit found breakfast too busy to order, another had no lunch available that day, and one reviewer notes breakfast must be pre-booked while cakes and coffee are available to walk-ins. In both cases the cakes and coffee still won people over, and in the lunch case a server offered a leftover savoury scone instead.

“Always so good! I’ve had many cakes from here over the last few years and finally booked in for the breakfast recently. It was delicious and all the ingredients are high quality. Note that you have to pre-book for breakfast, but cakes and coffees are always available for walk-ins.”

“Came here on two separate occasions and loved it both times and will definitely be back again. Desserts here are to die for, the pavlova is probably the best pavlova I have ever had. Salads are really fresh and flavourful! After a busy morning from work I stopped here for some food, due to an issue there was no lunch going on that day however the lady kindly offered me a savoury scone that they had left and it was really delicious. Best savoury scone I’ve had, soft inside and a slight crisp on the outside. Would definitely recommend stopping for lunch or an afternoon tea and then going for a walk around the park!!”
