Customer Review Summary

Homemade ice cream draws the most mentions, with reviewers praising the lemon sorbet and the gelato, though one regular feels the ice cream quality has slipped over the last couple of years. Close behind are the cheese and tomato panini, the iced matcha latte, the salmon and the selection of cakes, along with the terrace, the seating inside and outside, and the spot next to the playground. Prices are the most repeated complaint. Several call them restaurant level for a park cafe, pointing to a cold ham sandwich and a margarita pizza, and one family felt a bill for a coffee and three dishes was too much. Reviewers also describe a beef lasagna with little beef that was soaking wet, coffee that tasted like burnt beans, chewy bacon fat in a club panini, and a pesto pasta without vegetables. Staff get mixed comments, from super friendly to not very welcoming when the cafe is busy. One disappointed visitor says they will bring a picnic next time.

“Very overpriced for what it is. We won’t be returning and will bring a picnic next time. Boring kids options, although that’s a general issue in the UK!, just the usual pizza / pasta / fish and chips - £10 (inc drink and ice cream). Adult pesto pasta most of £15 and didn’t come with any vegetables, or a decent pesto to pasta ratio. Chewy bacon fat in the club panini. Spent almost £80 for four mains, 1 drink per person and three ice creams. Service was fine but they literally take the order / payment at the till and bring out the food - cutlery etc. is self service. Ice cream quality appears to have gone down over the last couple of years. Overall, we were excited to come here for the first time this year (have been regularly in the last few summers) but regretted it.”

“A really good cafe inside Golders Hill Park. The park is a good place for walks with some animals and birds in enclosures yo view. The cafe has a good range of food and drinks available for breakfast, lunch and dinner suitable for kids to adults. Sitting is available inside and outside, especially in this hot weather.”

“We ordered beef lasagna, but it didn't look or taste like beef lasagna. There was very little beef, just tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, soaking wet. Not worth the price. The coffee as well was bad, tasting like burnt beans. Also, the waiter who delivered the food was so careless he almost dropped it.”

“nice ice cream. staff is super friendly. great start to do the walk.”

“Its a real shame about this place. Gorgeous view, great area, cosy and cute seating inside. But the prices are INSANE. This could be a hub for community to gather, parents to have a cheap pitstop, students to study together. But instead they charge £7.80 for a cold ham sandwich and £15 for a margarita pizza. This would be fine for a restaurant but this is a park cafe and the quality is just not good enough.”
