About The Park Cafe

The Park Cafe sits inside a park in London at 25 Kingswood Ave, with a table area indoors and dogs welcome, so visitors can bring their dogs along. The menu runs to 10 dishes, with breakfast plates like Eggs Benedict and a Cumberland Sausage Sandwich. Toasties and a falafel wrap sit alongside them, and the boards also carry Middle Eastern options. The kitchen makes its food in-house, apple cake included, and the bakery selection includes vegan croissants and pain au chocolat. Coffee is served with a decaf option. Orders are placed at the till, where a queue forms and weekends are busier.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee is the draw reviewers raise most, called nutty and delicious, with one noting that good decaf is easy to find. Close behind are the toasties, including a mushroom and emmenthal one described as not greasy, plus a falafel wrap, vegan croissants and an apple cake with an apple carrot ginger drink. Several praise friendly staff and homemade food, and one says the weekend queue clears quickly. Service is the recurring complaint. One pregnant reviewer says another customer was served first and no apology followed, another says a kitchen worker called the closed toilets not his job despite their medical condition, and a third was told to stop sitting minutes after buying cakes and mulled wine. One objects to locked doors on a hot day, and another finds an ice lolly overpriced. Some reviewers, hoping the cafe avoids becoming a generic chain, point to a petition to keep it as it is.

“I've just had an absolutely delicious apple cake and apple carrot ginger drink. The food is fantastic, prices are reasonable and the people are lovely. This combination made my day!”

“Lovely café in a beautiful park but the prices are a bit wild. I was honestly surprised to see a chocolate ice lolly sold for £3.80, when the same kind of product is £2.20 round the corner at Planet Organic and costs to the shops £1.40. For something mainly aimed at kids, that feels hard to justify. Pricing could do with coming back down to earth a little.”

“The staff are really rude. I was standing in the queue, pregnant, very hot and trying to get a bottle of water and the staff member served the person behind me. When I asked her why I wasnt served first she was very rude and didn't apologise. I ended up waiting another few minutes for the person in front of me to be finished. Then when I told the girl at the till in the front what happened, she just ignored me, no apology or anything. Really awful customer service.”

“Always a lovely experience at this cafe, it does get busy at the weekend but the staff work hard and the queue goes down quick enough. The coffee is delicious, especially nice to find good decaf coffee, and there's always a great selection of homemade food. Its so nice to see thriving local businesses and would be such a shame to see anything about this cafe change!”

“Always excellent at any time of the day. Great staff and great food and drink. We love this cafe and definitely don't want it to change hands!!! Sign the petition to save our locely park cafe from the hands of another overpriced and generic chain.”
