About Exmouth Coffee Company

On Whitechapel High St, Exmouth Coffee Company is a cafe and breakfast restaurant roasting its coffee on site. Orders are placed at the counter, with no table service, and the format suits walk-ins rather than reservations. French toast and veggie quiche sit alongside sourdough used as a breakfast base, and portions run large enough to share between two. Croissants, including chocolate and almond versions, appear alongside apple crumble and a rotating range of pastries and baked goods available to take away. The entrance is step-free and wheelchair accessible, making it workable for visitors with mobility needs, and outdoor seating extends the space for those who want to eat outside. Dogs are welcome throughout. It opens daily, with no set closing days.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are about the weekend and the ordering. One reviewer describes an unwritten rule that sitting in requires a coffee and a cooked breakfast rather than pastries, with stressed staff who yelled. Another says staff stared at diners while a card reader prompted tips starting at 20% after a service charge was already added. A few found the order-at-the-counter system confusing, and one was refused chilli smashed avocado on a croissant because it was not on the menu. The noise and the small, stool-style seating also come up.

“Food was really good and fast. The coffee was very good. There was just a smell of old cleaning rags.”

“Best place in London for halal breakfast, finally a halal place that has quirky creative interior. The all day sausage breakfast is a top hit - highly recommend!”
  • Ruby Ahn
“Two dings in my book- 1. My coffee was lukewarm but the worst offense is 2. to have a mandatory charge of 10% for dining in and then to voluntarily prompt a (up to 20%) tip on the payment screen is bold and greedy.”
  • Karoliina Parv
“Amazing place!!! Coffee is good, food is delicious and nutritious. Portions are WOW -If you come with girlfriends, it would make sense to share one dish, and then maybe there’s still room for a small pastry. But I can’t promise :) Also, my daughter, who’s usually a pretty picky eater when it comes to breakfast, chose the quiche and absolutely loved it!”
  • Keisha Bachmid
“Passes by here a few times and finally decided to come in, they have a wide variety of food and pastry selection and a great interior. Very cosy and completely love the personalized wall with drawings and messages from previous customers when you first walk in, very unique. We Decided to try the ham&cheese sandwich, a couple of coffee, apple crumble and cinnamon roll. The highlight of those would be the flat white and cinnamon roll. Will be back again”
