Quick info
About The Market Porter
The Market Porter is a pub at 9 Stoney St in London, opposite Borough Market, and it runs as an Early House that opens for morning drinks, so a pint is available well before the usual pub day begins. The bar pours ales, beer, wine and gin, with Harvey's and Seventh Step Lager among the taps. Food is served through the day, with a pie of the day, fish & chips and a burger on the menu. The Sunday roast comes with beef or pork belly, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, and a vegetarian version is available. An upstairs dining room on level 2 is reached by the stairs. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the most repeated draw at this Borough Market pub, with diners describing pink, tender beef, juicy pork belly, crispy roast potatoes, a huge Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy, plus a vegetarian option. Close behind, reviewers praise the wider menu: fish and chips and a burger called tasty and filling, a pie of the day called delicious, and a Chicken Kyiv paired with a pint of Seventh Step Lager. A Chorizo Scotch Egg and sticky toffee pudding are also singled out. Several mention the selection of ales, wine and gin, the outdoor space on the market square, and an upstairs dining room with air conditioning in hot weather. Good value comes up repeatedly. Criticism is limited but specific: one reviewer who came for a particular ale found the pint tasted of dish water and said they would not return, and another felt service could be improved. Another visitor notes that the bartender still said hello and did not rush them despite a busy bar.

“One of the few traditional 'Early Houses' in London, a great spot to drink in the morning or early afternoon after an early slot at work. Magdi behind the ramp has been A-class and knows his clientele well, absolutely a spot well worth visiting!”

“Great pub in the heart of Brough Market at London Bridge, it has a great vibe on market days and in the summer where you can enjoy the outdoor space directly on the market square. On this occasion i was served by Rayvin a wonderful polite young man and dispite how busy the bar was he still took the time to say hi and did not make me feel rushed. Look out for the pie of the day, they are delicious.”
