About Mug House
Mug House is a pub and wine bar on Tooley St in London, set underneath London Bridge. Candlelit tables sit among antiques and historic wine artefacts that the house has collected over decades. The main room is an old pub space with a small bar, and a separate dining room lies at the back. The wine list is wide and runs as part of the Davy's wine bar group, with craft beers, port and cider alongside. The kitchen works from seasonal ingredients on a British menu, with sausage and mash as a main and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The pub is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the sausage and mash, called "something special" with sausages cooked to perfection, just enough mash and excellent gravy. Close behind are the sticky toffee pudding, described as delicious, and the beers, including amber ale served in a metal tankard. A few single out the wine list, with one pairing a French Grenache and Syrah with the bangers and mash and another praising the port. The British cheese plate and the sandwiches and platters also earn mentions. The old, dimly lit underground pub area draws the most affection, with reviewers describing it as cosy, quiet and a refuge from the busy streets around Borough Market. One reviewer finds the back dining room lacks that old world charm. Staff are called friendly and welcoming, including toward a large group arriving at different times, though one diner felt the lone server seemed stretched thin. Others call the beer selection small or just ok, and one reviewer found the Pinot Noir a bit too sweet. One visitor on a food tour found the place very quiet, and a family of seven with a late reservation arrived to a beautifully laid table.

“Amber ale in a metal tankard. What more could a man want? Dimly lit, quiet, old style. Love it. Will be coming here a lot more often; can't believe I never knew of it until now.”

“We had excellent service and yummy food today at the Mug House! We were 7 people and even though we made a late reservation when we arrived there was a beautufully laid table in a cosy space. Thank you SO MUCH! We'll be back!”

“Really neat underground pub, has fantastic port. My second time visiting from overseas and plan to return in the future.”

“Stumbled across this place because I needed a meeting point for some family members who were from out of town. It's a great little pub that is an unassuming hole in the wall. The interior is cosy and fun, and there's an ok beer selection. The vibe was very chilled in there which was needed to hide from the busy streets of Borough Market.”

“Really lovely pub tucked under the London Bridge. The food and wine list is fantastic and great value for the pricing. I had the bangers and mash paired with the French Grenache/Syrah and the British cheese plate for desert with the Pinot noir. Highly recommend both plates. The Grenache blend was lovely and paired well; the Pinot Noir was nice but a bit too sweet for my taste. Service was good but the fellow seemed stretched thin, could have used an extra server. The atmosphere of the main old pub area is fantastic, grab a seat there if you can. The back dining room area is nice too but lacks the old world charm. Overall, I definitely recommend this spot for some quality food and wine in London that won’t break the bank.”
