About The Kerfield Arms
The Kerfield Arms is a pub at 16 Grove Ln in London. Dessert centres on an English strawberry & custard doughnut. The kitchen also serves a roast with pork collar, and aged steak comes as a sharing dish. A lunch deal runs alongside the main menu. The wine list covers a wide selection, including orange wine. Wooden furniture and real candles fill the room, which also has acoustic dampening. Bread is on offer for mopping up sauces and dressings.

Customer Review Summary
The signature doughnut is what reviewers return to most, with the English strawberry and custard version singled out as the perfect finish, though a featherlight creme caramel is called the best dessert by two diners. Close behind are the mains: tender pork collar and pork with apricot and crackling at Sunday lunch, a charred aged steak for sharing, lamb chops, monkfish and Vendee chicken. A starter of quail with ezme and Greek yoghurt sauce and another of octopus both had diners ordering bread to mop up the sauce. The wine list draws praise, including an orange wine and a Bourgogne Chardonnay, and the service is repeatedly called friendly and attentive. Value comes up often, along with the lunch deal. The criticism is small: one diner found the roast potatoes slightly overdone, and another noted service slowing a little when the pub was busy. One reviewer also pointed to the room's acoustic dampening, and another mentioned real candles on the tables.

“I heard about this place being fantastic, but what I have experienced on my Sunday lunch went far beyond any expectations I had. I started with Taramasalata and mini romboide shaped pizza dough, a delightful combination that works very well. I paired this with a Brut bubble that was the perfect choice to go with the saltiness of the taramasalata. This was followed by the quail with ezme and Greek yoghurt sauce, the quail perfectly grilled and the sauce so good I had to order bread to mop it up! Another brilliant dish! Then came the pork with apricot and a perfect sauce, topped with a crackling on top, served with 3 side dishes consisting of Friggitelli peppers, a salad with feta, red onion and cucumber, plus some perfectly cooked roast potatoes in a very addictive sauce. This was divine, both the pork and the 3 sides were a masterclass in the art of cooking, each ingredient shone, but, at the same time, harmoniously blended together with the other ingredients to create absolute, precise perfection. The main was paired with a Chardonnay from Bourgogne, another perfect pairing that enhanced everything I ate and transported everything on another level of sublime dining. I ended the meal with their signature doughnut, the perfect ending to one of the best meals I had in my life . The service is absolutely perfect, the waitress they looked after me was incredibly nice, smiling, competent, and extremely efficient. So were all the others that interacted with me. This time I was on my own but I do need to come back as they do a barbecue feast that, to be enjoyed, needs to be shared with at least another person. Thank you guys you were absolutely wonderful.”

“What a refreshing experience. Plenty of staff my waiter was the asst general manager and quite superb in the attentive service he offered including menu suggestions. My starter was absolutely as good a serving of octopus as I have had. My waiter recommended bread to mop the dressing up and he was absolutely right. My main was the Vendee chicken cooked to perfection with beautiful sauce and veg. Dessert was unquestionably the best creme caramel I have ever eaten. The alcohol free cocktail was a perfect accompaniment. The toilets were "compact" but clean. A wide variety of customers including quite young children. Today took me to 139 michelin stars this was a refreshingly unstuffy enjoyable meal.”

“The Kerfield Arms is exactly the sort of neighbourhood gastropub that restores your faith in British dining. It’s increasingly rare to find somewhere with such a deep understanding of food and wine that still feels utterly unpretentious. There is a quiet confidence to everything they do, and it shows. From the moment you arrive, the welcome is genuinely warm and charming. The dining room is beautifully considered, the menu is intelligently put together, and every detail feels carefully judged. You find yourself expecting the bill to be rather alarming, only to discover that it represents some of the best value for cooking of this standard that we’ve come across in quite some time. The food was beautifully executed throughout, seasonal, generous and full of flavour, with every dish demonstrating real technical skill without ever feeling overwrought. A truly exceptional local. We’ll be returning before long, and we’ll be encouraging all of our fellow food lovers to do the same.”

“Had a wonderful experience here last week while I was down in London with some friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed and the food, absolutely delicious!! Will definitely visit again next time I’m in London. The Guinness was lovely as well :)”

“This is everything you hope for when dining out. The food was delicious, the service was attentive without being overbearing and the decor and atmosphere make this a place you most definitely want to return to and recommend to friends. One of the nicer touches is the acoustic dampening of the room - often the downfall of perfectly good restaurants otherwise.”
